Rafa appeared on the Charlie Rose show for an interview:
This is a lovely interview. And with how tired he must have been, his English is quite impressive. The interview even impressed my mom. ;) She declared Rafa to be humble and sexy.
Rafa talked with CNN:
Post match on court interview in Spanish:
And an Interview in English for Eurosport.
A transcript from the presser after Rafa’s 6‑4, 3‑6, 7‑6(2) defeat of Djokovic is up.
Q. You served very aggressive in the first game. You returned aggressively. You played the first couple points in the tiebreak aggressively. Was it your plan to dictate early every chance you could get?
RAFAEL NADAL: I said yesterday the only chance to win against Novak, the only tactic is play very well. To play very well, I have to play aggressive. If not, I cannot play very well in
First, they showed some of Rafa’s presser on ESPN today. I managed to grab it
Then, Inés sent me a link to a bit of the Spanish presser.
I said Rafa sure looked grumpy it, and she said it was because of the question asked. She transcribed the interview and then did a bit of a clean up on the mangle (very quickly

Genny summed up a few of Rafa’s comments:
Rafa in Spanish TV: Rafa’d have rated as mad to anyone who would’ve told him 4 months ago that by now he’d have won 3 M1000, 2 M500 & 1 M250— Genny SS (@genny_ss) May 19, 2013
Rafa thinks today wasn’t the best day of
Rafa’s doctor gave an interview last week and given all the questions that have been swirling about his recovery, delay and then sudden re-emergence in the practice courts, I thought it might be worth paying attention to. This interview to Dr. Cotorro took place last week (Dec 29). It is quite long and now I
Toni gave an interview with SER in which he discussed Rafa’s health and plans for going forward. You can listen to the interview here. Inés has typed up a transcription and then translated that for those of us who are Spanish challenged.
Hoy hemos empezado a entrenar en tierra batida después del parón debido al problema que ha surgido últimamente, pues hemos empezado hoy
Me imagino que el deseo para el 2013 está claro, que las lesiones respeten a Rafa y todos
An interview by Enrique Yunta for ABC.es. “The Balearic tennis player receives ABC when we are a week away from his return to competition. He is excited, but asks for caution.”
There are a lot of bad translations from some recent Rafa interviews. The worst one claims that Rafa said he will not be playing at the Australian Open. Per our helpful Spanish speakers, he did not say this at all. He plans to play, but, in his usual Rafa-way, played down his ability to win a tournament after not having played competitive tennis for so long.
Once again, @genny_ss has stayed up very late to do some hard work for us. First, a translation of
The complete Ana Pastor interview that aired on CNN Español in the US and TNT in Spain.
