A transcript of Rafa’s presser after his 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 defeat of Wawrinka is up on ubitennis.com.

Q. It seems you found the calm and the movement you were wishing for at the start of the tournament. Do you feel that you’ve reached another step that you needed to have before the semifinal?

RAFAEL NADAL: Obviously I really am playing better here. I’m happy the way that I played today especially. Was my best match on the tournament without any doubt.

I said I need to

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m exhausted. Thank goodness we get a break after this. Oh. It’s killing me that they are already showing commercials for Wimbledon. I know it’s right around the corner, but let me come to grips with the sleep deprivation the current slam is causing before reminding me that there’s no end in sight.

Rafa played #10 Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros today. Going in to the match, Rafa had 9-0 record against Stan and hadn’t lost a set to him. That didn’t change today. Rafa looked to have more colm today and was finding his shots with greater frequency. All in all, today’s match was a good new. Rafa’s through: 6-2. 6-3, 6-1.

In the second quarterfinal of the day in Rome, Rafa played #4 David Ferrer. I admire both guys and always find matches between them to be difficult to watch. No matter what, I’m going to be a bit heartbroken by the end of it. In the Acapulco final, I was heartbroken by how tame Ferrer seemed in his loss; in Madrid by how close he came to winning only to not be able to close it out.

(Through translation.)

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

RAFAEL NADAL: Hello. Sorry for the lateness. It was a little complicated.

Heh, when isn’t it complicated?

Q. Congratulations for your victory. After how the match went, after playing against who you’ve played, I think you’re a little bit more inflated with confidence. Looking forward to what you have tomorrow or the next day?

RAFAEL NADAL: For the moment you have to look at what we have tomorrow.
