Rome: Pre-tournament presser transcript & photos
The transcript from Rafa’s pre-tournament presser is up on the tournament’s site.
Q: Hello. Could you talk about the adjustment form clay to Madrid to Rome in terms of conditions
R. Nadal: Well it just something it fells a little bit different with the altitude and sea level and that the only thing… it is true to play 2 Master 1000 back to back is difficult when you are in the final rounds and no time to prepare the next tournament and I arrived yesterday and so I am here to try my best.
Of course you are Rafa.

Q. Was it easier than you were expecting or really today you were playing really well in the altitude of Madrid? It’s been incredible.
RAFAEL NADAL: Well, in the end, as I said the other day, I don’t expect anything. If I expect is the most difficult thing when I go out there and play a match.
In this case what I expected was to go out

Congratulations for your victory. You’ve already played four matches here in Madrid. Given the conditions of the court and also with the altitude and the fact that you’ve been seven months without playing, the feelings are worse or better than you were expecting before coming here?
RAFAEL NADAL: Well, you know, I didn’t know if I was going to be in the final, you know. Obviously

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
RAFAEL NADAL: Hello. Sorry for the lateness. It was a little complicated.
Heh, when isn’t it complicated?
Q. Congratulations for your victory. After how the match went, after playing against who you’ve played, I think you’re a little bit more inflated with confidence. Looking forward to what you have tomorrow or the next day?
RAFAEL NADAL: For the moment you have to look at what we have tomorrow.

Q. Good afternoon, Rafa. Congratulations on the victory. We were a little bit worried. I don’t know if it was just a feeling, but you were feeling more bad than normal?
RAFAEL NADAL: No, well, you know, sometimes I feel more and sometimes I feel less. Sometimes I have pain. Since the first day sometimes it’s complicated, you know.
I try to avoid talking about it

Q. Congratulations for your victory, first of all. How did you feel? How are the feelings here? How are you recovering yourself?
RAFAEL NADAL: Well, I’m recovering. These days we do whatever we can, you know. That’s an important victory today. Each match in this kind of tournament is very demanding from the first round.
Today I played only — with the best players in

Q. Hello Rafa. I would like to know if from zero to 100% how do you feel? Which percentage to you place on your game right now? Do you see it possible to reach whole conditions in Roland Garros?
RAFAEL NADAL: It’s complicated to analyze in which condition I am. You really don’t know when you’re 100% ready. Each day is a new day. I do what I
Monte-Carlo: Presser videos
Since they wouldn’t only allow pictures during the first question in MC pressers, I decided to try shooting some video. The lady wasn’t sure they were allowed, so at first, I hand-held my heavy camera/lens discretely to take the video (thus, very shaky). For the final, I used my monopod, so it’s a bit better. Still nowhere near the quality one could get with a tripod.
And, I’ve uploaded day one of my photos – here.
