Wacky stats Wednesday

Wacky stats Wednesday

Do you know what happens when I have an hour left at work and no small projects to fill in the time? (I needed to start tackling one item, but it was at least a 4 hour task that would be difficult to stop in the middle.) Well, for some reason, I compiled the stats. Nope. I have no idea why… I think I got started by following a link on a tweet and it just escalated from there.

The stats are for over the course of their careers – from the year they turned pro. The titles and money per

The agonknee of defeat

The agonknee of defeat

In a highly anticipated match-up that felt more like a slam semi than a quarterfinal, Rafa took on #4 Andy Murray today in Melbourne. They came out swinging and playing high-quality no-holds barred tennis. The match was tight, but Murray was out-playing Rafa who was having trouble keeping his shots in the court. And then…the knee. Rafa hurt his right knee at the end of the second set and then aggravated it further in the third. He tried to keep going, but… Rafa’s Australian Open comes to an end with just as many, if not more, questions about the state

Shortly after the press conference, Andy Roddick tweeted:

Contemplating Nadal’s Absence

That match, now in the history books as one of the best played in major championship history, won’t repeat itself. This opens vast possibilities for Nadal’s rivals.

Serena Williams was convinced they were happy.

“I’m a huge Nadal fan,” she said at a news conference. “I’m sure there’s a lot of guys on the men’s tour who were probably celebrating and partying.”

Heee!

“I would have

What the contenders need to win Wimbledon by Tom Perrotta

Even if his knees feel OK, can Nadal overcome the injury to his spirit? His uncle and coach, Toni, told the Spanish press this week that Nadal’s chances are no longer as good, and that losing at the French Open has hurt his confidence. If he finds it by the end of the

Of eyebrows and clay

Of eyebrows and clay

Tignor is at it again. This time he talks not only of his love of Rafa, but of his love of the current state of clay court tennis. I have to admit: I didn’t use to like clay court tennis. Keep in mind, this was way back in the day when players were using natural gut and playing with wooden rackets. (Yes, I’m that old.) These days, however, I’ve come to realize that clay

Q. You were up 6 2, 5 2, then what happened? You lost four of five games. Was it because of him or you, or both?

RAFAEL NADAL: No, I was playing very well. I think I had the match under control, playing well, playing with good tactic, too, I think good strategy. And, yeah, I thought my chance was in the 5 2. That was the moment for me. With the 5 3, yeah, I play
