The Wimbledon draw is a done deal. First up, Rafa will face Kei Nishikori. From what I could gather from the radio broadcast, Soderling is in Rafa’s quarter; Murray and Verdasco in his half. Seeds in the Federer’s half of the draw are Roddick, Davydenko and Djokovic. More details and a link once the draw is posted.

So, in Fed’s quarter: Robredo, F Lopez, Melzer, Wawrinka, Hanescu and Davydenko. In his half: Djokovic, Montanes, Monfils, Hewitt, Cilic, Ljubicic, Kohlschreiber and Roddick. In Rafa’s quarter: Gulbis, Isner, Youzhny, Ferrer, Baghdatis, Bellucci and Soderling. In Rafa’s half: Murray, Simon, Querrey, Ferrero, Tsonga, Almagro, Benneteau and Verdasco.

If things go by seeding (yeah, like that ever happens), round of 16 match ups in Rafa’s half: Verdasco/Tsonga, Ferrero/Murray, Soderling/Ferrer and Nadal/Youzhny.

The draw fairy brought us two gifts today – Team Cuteness will take on Queens! If they get past Schuettler/Tipsarevic in the first round, they would face the seeded team of Lindstedt/Tecau in the second. Vamos Team Cuteness!

In a huge reminder that there’s no rest in tennis, the singles draw for Queens came out today. Rafa’s the top seed and gets a bye in the first round. Possible second round opponents are Marcos Daniel or Blaz Kavcic. Seeds in his quarter are: Istomin, Benneteau, and Felciano Lopez. Seeds in his half: Murray, Giraldo, Llodra and Cilic. Seeds in the other half: Monfils, Gasquet, Roddick, Querrey, Tipsarevic, Seppi and Djokovic.

It’s that time again…the smell of spring flowers, clay dust and sweat in Paris. The draw is out! Rafa’s first round match will be against Gianni Mina. Seeds in Rafa’s quarter include: Verdasco, Kohlschreiber, Almagro, Gonzalez, Ljubicic, Bellucci and Hewitt. In Rafa’s half are Djokovic, Roddick, Monaco, Melzer, Ferrer, Ferrero, Querrey, and Hanescu. In the other half of the draw are Federer, F. Lopez, Wawrinka, Monfils, Cilic, Gulbis, Montanes, Soderling, Murray, Baghdatis, Berdych, Robredo, Garcia-Lopez and Tsonga.

So, I got up early on my dang vacation so that I could post the draw and it doesn’t appear to be up yet. Grrr. For some reason, there is an article about it on Marca (Google Translation). Djokovic has withdrawn due to allergies, a cold and, most probably, playing a hell of a lot of tennis lately. Rafa and Fed are, therefore, in opposite halves. From what I can tell via the Marca article, Murray and Ferrer are in Fed’s half; Soderling and Tsonga are in Rafa’s.

Ever since Rafa slipped past #2, people have been wondering: when will he end up in the same half of the draw as Roger? Well, this is it.

For his first match, Rafa will take on the winner of Cuevas/Kohlschreiber. He faces a potential quarterfinal match up with Soderling, semi with Fed, and final with Djokovic. But we aren’t looking ahead, right?

Here’s the full draw. Seeds in Rafa’s quarter include Monaco, Berdych and Soderling. Seeds in his half include Querrery, Ljubicic, Cilic, and Federer. Seeds in the other half are Isner, Ferrer, Ferrero, Youzhny, Tsonga, Verdasco, Murray and Djokovic.

If things go by seeding (stop giggling!), here’s the potential quarterfinals:

Federer – Cilic
Nadal – Soderling
Tsonga – Murray
Verdasco – Djokovic

The draw for the Barcelona tournament is out. Rafa’s the top seed and other seeded players in his quarter are Bellucci, Robredo and Ferrer. Seeds in his half are Gonzalez, Montanes, Melzer and Verdasco (who took a last minute wild card). Players in the other half are Ferrero, Monaco, Almagro, Tsonga, Berdych, Hewitt and Soderling.

Of course, with the current travel situation, anyone who’s not already in Europe might have a problem getting to the tournament.

The Monte-Carlo singles draw was announced while I was busy catching up on sleep. As the #2 seed, Rafa is back in a familiar position in the draw – bottom half, bottom quarter. For his first match (after his first round bye), he’ll face either a qualifier or Schwank (who was recently slapped with a fine for “erratic play” in the Houston tournament). Rafa is not in the doubles draw.

Seeds in Rafa’s quarter are Tsonga, Ferrero, and Monaco. Seeds in his half include Ljubicic, Ferrer, Melzer, and Murray. Seeds in the top half of the draw include Djokovic, Wawrinka, Robredo, Youzhny, Cilic, Baghdatis, Berdych, and Verdasco.

The doubles draw came out today. Rafa and Tomeu will face the Bryan Brothers in the first round. Can Team Not Quite As Cute knock out the top seeds? And Marc! is rebounding from the dump with Bellucci. They’ll play Kas/Norman in the first round.
