Rafa withdraws from Paris Masters

Per statements on Facebook in French, Spanish and English, Rafa will not be playing in the Paris Masters tournament.

Hi all. I won’t be playing this upcoming week the tournament in Paris Bercy. It’s been a difficult decision to take but I understand that it is what I need to do right now to prepare well for the end of this season and also for 2012. I hope I can be back in 2012 to that great event in the most beautiful

The Paris draw will take place Friday at 6:30pm local time. According to the tournament site, we’ll be able to follow the draw live online.

Voting for the ATP Fan favorite singles player and doubles team is now open. You have to be on Facebook to vote, however.

Saludos desde Paris. Mañana estaré en el torneo a las 12 del mediodía para dar una rueda de prensa y estar con los fans. Lastima no poder jugar.

Based on the picture, I think we now know the true reason he pulled out of the tournament: severe hair strain.

Rafa withdraws from Paris [Updated]

Citing tendinitis in his left shoulder, Rafa has withdrawn from the 2010 Paris Masters. He needs to rest for a few days and says the injury is nothing to be worried about. He will spend time doing physiotherapy to prepare for the World Tour Final.

I love how Rafa’s all, “I want to hit! I want to hit!” when they are picking on Pico. And the slow measured retreat back from the net followed by the “oh shit!” run back to it cracks me up.
