Halle: Quarterfinal presser transcript

A transcript of Rafa’s quarterfinal presser can be found on the Halle site (also in German):

Q: Rafa, was it the difficult match today that you expected yesterday?

NADAL: I said yesterday that it was going to be a very tough match. He plays well on this court. I didn’t have a lot of time to play, to practice. But, just congratulations to him. He played great. He played very well and he played very aggressive. And playing best of three with everything

Halle: Thanks for the practice

Halle: Thanks for the practice

Rafa played defending champion Philipp Kohlschreiber (#34) in the Halle quarterfinal round today. I couldn’t really see the match, but it appears that Kohlschreiber was playing very well and that Rafa was off just a bit. No worries. With the exception of 2008, a quarterfinal finish at the Wimbly warm-up is kind of a tradition with Rafa. He’s got some match play on grass and the time to practice on the surface a bit more. Rafa lost: 3-6, 4-6.

Halle: 2nd round presser video and transcript

First, here’s video of the presser via the tournament site. They’ve also kindly provided us with transcripts in English and German.

Q: You said the other day that the transition from Roland Garros to the first grass tournament for you is a very tough challenge. But today it seems that you made a good adjustment to play a decent game?

NADAL: Especially in the second set. In the first set, I think I had more mistakes than usual with my backhand.
