The final of Roland Garros. Rafa’s 8th; Daveeed’s 1st. Everyone was saying that the conclusion of this match was foregone – that there was no way Daveeed was going to win. There was also no way Rafa was going to stay ranked above Daveeed even if he did win. While the score and the tennis pretty much lived up to “foregone” the match was full of weird and uncomfortable atmosphere thanks to some idiotic protestors. They couldn’t stop history from happening, though. Rafa wins a historic 8th Roland Garros by defeating David Ferrer 6-3, 6-2, 6-3. He’s the only man in tennis history to have won a slam 8 times. Amazing. Simply amazing.

Of course I am sharing in the mass satisfaction and joy in the RG win, but I just wanted to thank you, miri, for all that you do to keep this website going. It is a fabulous archive, and I appreciate all of the time you put in to make it so complete and so professional.

I,too, truly appreciate this site. You always go above and beyond to bring us comprehensive coverage of all things Nadal. You put in so much time and effort so we don’t have to. As Rafa would say, “Just wanna say thank you.”

I haven’t hit the ground yet :) My face could have cracked from smiling so much in the last 24 hours.

Long may we all be on cloud 9…. Or cloud 8 ;)

As thrilled I feel about the win, I wish there were even more attention on how well Rafa is playing right now. His level overall is amazing. Look at the winners/unforced ratio:

    Final: Rafa 35/25 Ferrer 22/35
    Semi: Rafa 61/44 Djokovic 54/75

Amazing differential for Rafa and makes the semifinal result seem a lot less close than the score.

Congratulations to Rafa and all his fans that go through the motions on this site :)

The match against Djokovic was the high point without a doubt. How he hung in there believing in himself in the 5th set only he knows and which is why only he is capable of all the things he has accomplished!

I was very very lucky to get a chance to go to Paris this year and visit RG for the first time. I had to pleasure to watch Rafa play Fogninni.

Now hope Rafa stays fit and manages his schedule well.
