Some lint before I crash* for the evening. I’m tired and the tournament is in my time zone! Best of luck surviving the week to those who are dealing with horrid time zone differences.

Rafa does social media:

Which mangles to: Congratulations to my friend @ llorentefer19! Hope you have a great day with your family.

Mangle: The return of @ rickyrubio9 was expected by all and the truth is that it has shown that the basket remains in the blood.

Genny tweeted some translations from Rafa’s post-match interview:

And then a journalist started live-tweeting Rafa’s presser:

Nadal: “I was not comfortable with the knee? No. Not true. Took 3 days to the knee responds better than in Brazil and Chile”

Nadal: “That is a cause for happiness. The goal is to have fewer bad days. Positive more days”

Nadal in Indian Wells and Miami: “They are Speculations. ‘Ve Always Told the truth. Do not know if I will be or not. Depend on my feelings”

Nadal: “My intention is to go and play Indian Wells. They will be of the decision. Not even I know. Journalists do not know & I”

Nadal: “The track was slow. ‘S Not True that suits me more. I like to play with fast track”

Nadal: “I hope to wake up tomorrow with a positive feeling to play the game”

Nadal: “I felt bad every time I saw the Latin American tour and could not be. Timing is complicated”

Nadal: “Who knows if in the future sacrifice other tournaments to play where I most like” Wink to Latin America

Nadal: “I do not take it easy any party or any point in my career. Maximum for I always win.”

Nadal: “Maybe I’ll be fine in two, three or six weeks. Now win every match is a grand illusion. Appreciate things much +”

Nadal listens to questions about possible end vs. Ferrer: “You see that I have not explained well. If you want, I’ll say it again” # SingleStep

Valuable conference. As since arriving in Acapulco, Nadal speaks clear, direct and honest.

(*Well, not really crashing yet, need to do my yoga, plan/pack lunch for tomorrow and play with my kitties.)

One step at a time says Rafa as is usually the case :) The speculated semis and finals against Nico and Ferru can wait . Thanks for this lint Miri .

Ouch. Some of the translations of Ceballos tweets made me squirm. “Los periodistas no saben + que you” would be “The journalists don’t know more than I do. [ in reference to his prospective decision to play or not play IW ]
“pista rápida” should be “fast court” in this context
“Doy el máximo para ganar siempre” is better translated as “I always give the maximum to win.”
And so on. Sorry to get al nit-picky but Rafa is always so conscientious in his answers and word choices that it pains me to see him quoted with awkward translations.

‘Rafa proves that he still needs a better personal photographer.’
    So true, miri.

He also needs someone who handles his Facebook and Twitter accounts better, i.e. with better English. I am not a native English speaker myself, but the many spelling mistakes, as well as things like ‘childs’, and writing ‘his career’ when the post is about Esther Vergeer are annoying and unprofessional, considering his global superstar status and millions of multinational followers on FB and Twitter. People who follow Rafa on social media are aware that English is not his first language, but I assume it is not himself who writes the posts, at least not the English ones. In my view the person who handles his SM accounts should be much more careful when posting in English.
