Are you certain that Rafa receives a first round bye? Only the draw doesn’t show that, it shows Rafa playing Schwartzman, one of the qualifiers. Also not thrilled to see Zeballos in Rafa’s half. Not especially happy to see him play a qualifier either, as they have nothing to lose. I believe Rafa plays better against other top players but that’s just my opinion. Hope he does well this week.

Crap. Thanks. I’ll fix it as soon as I can. (When I first looked at the draw, I was confused…where’s Rafa? Oh yeah, Ferrer is in the top half as a higher seed. Change can be difficult to deal with at times…especially when you are tired.)

OK that looks like a real draw. Hope he can get some good matches under his belt. Zeballos, huh? And Almagro, who’s given Rafa a hard time even without a 7month break. At least I hope this is a real clay court. Good luck, Rafa!

knowing Rafa, he’d by psyched to see Zeballos in his draw just so he can show him who’s the real king of clay the next time they meet!

i have a good feeling about this tournament, this would be Rafa’s breakout tournament, if he wins this, i would think that he’s really back and he’s not going away at least until RG :)

Rafa just has to beat Zaballos, if the two should meet, so that the one time he lost to him can truly be considered a fluke. I wouldn’t have worried about meeting someone with Zaballos’ ranking under normal circumstances, but a rusty Rafa with a recent loss to that guy really needs the confidence boost that would come from avenging that loss. Curiously, I’m less worried about Almagro since Rafa has the psychological advantage that comes from beating him so many times and he does seem to raise his game against the seeds (like he did against Nalbandian in Brazil).

Should be a good gauge of where Rafa is at in terms of returning to his normal level.
