Viña del Mar: Rafico translated

Hey! Don't be bossing Pico around Bossy McBossersons!

Genny loved the video clip of Rafico’s presser after their first match win and wants to share a translation. Who am I to say no?

Here’s the video and the translation:

00:00 [Rafa] First of all, I’m happy for playing my first official match, even if it’s a doubles match, and in addition it’s with one of my best friends. That’s the main thing for me and it makes me very happy to play in a packed court again. [Court packed] with a crowd that has treated me incredibly well. Going out on court feeling this way is always a very special feeling and I’m very grateful for everything that’s happening to me since I arrived.

00:25 [Rafa] I’ve been 7 months without playing, but let’s not fool ourselves, it’s not the first match I’ve played and although I’ve been without playing for quite a while, the feelings are not too different from those I used to have. The only thing is simply the doubt at the beginning about how I’ll respond tennis wise, physically and regarding the knee. Apart from that, I’m feeling comfortable playing tennis, I don’t feel I’m playing badly and if I feel physically prepared to run, I feel prepare to compete. To compete at an acceptable level you need that your body responds physically, that the knee pain goes down and if that happens, I feel qualified to be able to compete.

01:05 [Pico] Any time I step in on a court I want to win and try to encourage myself, that’s my way and maybe today, given the circumstances and that it was Rafa’s return, the match was even more special if you want… Trying to support him, like he supports me, because it is a doubles match that is played by the two of us and if both are well, even better, as we’re going to rise our tennis level.

01:33 [Pico] I think my personal feelings are very lovely. Take into account that, as far as I could, I tried to follow Rafael’s injury very closely, I had the opportunity to visit him at home, spent some time with him and I know all the effort he’s done to be able to be here today. Although, as he says, he might not feel at 100%, but he made a huge effort to reach this point and you have to appreciate everything he’s done.

02:00 [Pico] So, I’m very happy for sharing this moment with him. Fortunately, we could have a good time on court… we won… I had the pressure that if we lost, I was the one to blame, thus I tried to be really motivated and we won. So, I’m happy, happy for seeing him on a tennis court again, because he’s a friend and is back on tour…

02:20 [Rafa] …above all, the match was very important for Marc Lopez…
[Pico] Yes, this was a match we had set out to win for a person who is in Spain…
[Rafa] …and whose name is Marc Lopez
[Journo] Doubles partner
[Pico] Doubles partner…. EX-Doubles partner!
[Rafa] Yeah, he doesn’t love me any more [lots of laughs in the press room]

Slightly off topic but what is Pico wearing on his wrists in this video?
They look like blood pressure cuffs.

    Thanks.
