Viña del Mar: Into the final

Forehand in waiting

In a doubles semifinal (already?) match, Rafico took on Carlos Berlocq and Leonardo Mayer (both from Argentina). Both teams held serve for 7 games. Showing great timing, Rafico broke in the 8th game to go up 5-3. With Pico serving at set point, Rafa picked up a low ball at the net and flicked it for a cross-court winner: 6-3, Rafico.

Second set? Kind of similar. Both teams held until the 8th game. At 40-30, Rafa totally bossed a net point to get them to deciding point. Pico hit a backhand return of serve winner and the break was theirs. Pico served it out in the next game and they are through to the final: 6-3, 6-4.

I watched the singles match earlier in the evening but that wasn’t enough and as I knew the doubles was on at 1.00 GMT I couldn’t resist and just had to watch it so I was in bed with the laptop half the night. I’ve missed my late night Rafa tennis the last 7 months lol. Friends and family laugh and think I’m mad but I can’t help it.
I had to go out early this morning and several people said I looked half asleep lol. It was worth it and I hope Rafa’s matches are on early today otherwise it’s gonna be another late night.
