Mini translations:
Genny tweeted the following translations of some of Rafa’s comments in the on-court interview:
Rafa’s asked about the knee. He says that doubles matches are less demanding. The real test will come tomorrow in his singles match.
He’s very happy with all the attention and affection he’s receiving from the crowd.
He’s asked again how he decided to come to Viña and repeats what he’s said these days: the timing in recovery and the surface made it
Rafa being declared “illustrious visitor of Viña del Mar”, receiving the “trophy” and signing the book
Of course, they are expecting Rafa to come back to Viña. The mayor tells him that they will ALWAYS wait for him in Viña del Mar! :))
And then from the presser:
9 months ago the tendon was bad, today it’s OK. But I’m not going to speak on the knee any more, but on what’s to come
I’ll try to play and perform as best as possible. With or w/o pain. Tomorrow I play Delbonis, lefty as me, I know him from practicing
Rafa does social media:
- Rafa’s team wished him luck on his first match back.
Social media related to Rafa:
- Pico tweeted this TOTALLY FREAKING ADORABLE PHOTO which Rafa later posted to Facebook.
LOL Pico is too funny, “We won, I had some pressure that maybe if we lost I was going to be the one to blame”.

I’d forgotten how electric a presence Rafael #Nadal is on a tennis court. Longer he can stick around, the better. #tennis

Okay, I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted and need some sleep!

Thank you Miri for all the articles, tweets and pictures.
I am so happy that he is back. I wish the media would stop going on about his knees again (like they did in 2010).
I did not see the match. I catch up on the internet (no TV). I heard that Rafa made a little statement saying he doesn’t want to keep talking about his knees.
I wish him all the luck in the world for his singles match.
I just want him do his best and enjoy his game.
Ha ha love the article with all the tweets about the FA, lol!
They dignified those shoes with a picture? ;-)
It was wonderful seeing Rafa back on the court last night. My stream wasn’t very good though. It showed adverts every couple of mins. I will try another stream tonight if able to! We will see. I am loving Rafa’s single gear. I didn’t like that collar on top for the doubles. Our Rafa isn’t a collar man! Nike! Vamos Rafa tonight!
I hope the press are not going to keep asking at every presser after every match how is the knee. Rafa must find it so annoying. How about asking how it feels to be back etc……… I don’t know how he keeps his cool honestly. I’m sure everyone would find talking about his tennis and what’s to come far more interesting. I know I would.
I know, Sharon, he must already be so tired of it. But, you know, it’s the knee that’s kept him out for 7+ months, so I think it’s only natural that he’s going to be asked about it until his performance and mien broadcast to everyone that his knee is fine.
Fingers crossed for him (and I promise to refrain from asking him the knee questions…)
OMG so exited to see Rafa again on court!!!! Vamos!!!!;)
