A draw! A draw! A draw with Rafa’s name on it! Oh my. Here’s a pdf of the draw.

Rafa’s first match back will be against the winner of a match between Guido Pella (a rising Argentinean star) and a qualifier. Seeds in his half are Gimeno-Traver, Chardy and Lorenz. Seeds in the other half are Ramos, Andujar, Berlocq, and Monaco.

Vamos our Rafa and God bless.

  3. Isabelle says:

We have been waiting a long time for this, and Rafa will always be worth the wait!

  4. An says:

Oh finally…….. Rafa tennis is near!

    • An says:

Ah and re-united with his friend Pico….
Lots of Rafa/Pico pics to look forward too?

Buena suerte Chico’s, all the way to the finals pease!!!

  5. JayDee50 says:

Oh wow, after 7 long months our boy is really back. So the Rafa rollercoaster ride will soon be starting again. What I’m wondering is, how on earth will Rafa get on with the crackdown on the 25-second rule? I mean seriously, how is he going to fit in all his pre-serve tics, using the towel, tucking the hair, the shorts tug, cleaning the baseline etc etc etc? It all helps him to get focused and concentrate. Don’t want him losing points over it.

I hope he does well this week, a few wins will do wonders for his confidence and rhythm; the only person in his side of the draw who worries me slightly is Chardy, who can be quite a dangerous player. Anyhow, what will be will be, the main thing is he’s back. :D

  6. Fan F says:

Can hardly wait! So excited! Rafa Go! We love you!

  7. dk says:

Let’s see how the knee holds up by the time Miami Master’s and Indian Wells rolls around. There is media talk that RG will be Nole’s to take this year. I hope Nadal will be back in full force by then unless the knee(s) is not holding up…

    • Sharon/London says:

Ignore the media and lets not get to far ahead of ourselves. Nole has got to win 7 matches to win RG Seppi took him to 5 sets last year and Tsonga had match points so its not easy. Though I do think Rafa needs to try and get back to no 4 by then.

He’s back, hopefully for good but one match at a time and let’s just enjoy watching him again.

    • An says:

Let us see hiw it goes in the 1 st match….. RG is far away fom here we will worry about that later, or better even we won’t worry and just enjoy seeing Rafa okay tennis again!

  8. Julie says:

Yippeeee!!! Can hardly wait. Hope the knee is ready for match play…win or lose, just want him to be healthy and enjoy himself!! Vamos Rafa!!!!! We love you no matter what…

  9. Maria says:

Welcome back Rafa. Good luck with your first match. No matter how it goes its excellent news that you are playing again. You have been sorely missed by your fans and tennis in general. Lovely to see you playing doubles with your very good friend Pico. Hope you have a very good tournament and enjoy yourself. Vamos Rafa!!!

  10. Ch F says:

I would say this is a reasonable draw for a comeback. Hopefully he’ll be ok through most of it. Good luck Rafa!

  11. Fifi says:

Yea! He’s back! And us fans will have to just take one match at a time; just like him! That’s going to be hard but just so happy to see him back at tournaments.

  12. Serin says:

He is back .. He is back.. RAFA is back ..

VAMOS RAFA ! Have a great time in South America and in your first tournament after seven months. Enjoy yourself !! LOVE YOU !

When will Rafa’s match be on television in US? Either TennisChannel or ESPN?

    • miri says:

As far as I know, only US coverage will be the semis and the final on The Tennis Channel

      • Fay Kelley says:

Thank you Miri ~ love your avatar !

So happy along with everyone else to be able to see Rafa play again. Stay healthy and well RAFA !

I was hoping someone would have a date, the TennisChannel does not list specifics most of the time and sometimes when I have scheduled a “series” to be taped in its entirely, the last few matches get missed.

        Thanks again ~

        • Fay Kelley says:

Saw the match on livehunter and he (they) won – yeah! love the shorty shorts but hate the t shirt back to the collar job! Yuk and not tight fitting.

    • Sharon/London says:
