RafaLint: November 28th

Oooo! Lots of fun linty stuff fluffing around the internet – mainly thanks to Rafa heading off to The Netherlands to support Richard Krajicek’s foundation. But first…a bit of yum:

If she has time, Genny is going to work on a translation of this article, because I’m not sure I trust the mangle in some tricky parts: Toni Nadal: “Como sé que Rafa Nadal está totalmente limpio, no creo posible que alguien se pueda dopar”/ (But goodness, I love this line and refuse to believe it’s a “mangle” at all: “In this life you can be a great player, but is very difficult to be a David Ferrer.”)

Everyone’s doing those year-end wrap-up kinda things:

Tennisearth.com put up an article today quoting Toni as saying, jokingly, “I hope now that Djokovic and Federer get hurt in 2013.”

I hate to stir the pot, but i find this to be one of the most outrageous instances of journalistic filth that i’ve ever read in my life. And i posted as much. I’m sure they won’t put my post up since it must be reviewed.

Never in the history of sport has there been a team or an athlete who carries themselves with more class and dignity, respect for the game, and respect for their opponents than the Nadal camp.

Surely it behooves all Rafa fans to take everything that is put forth in the press with a grain of salt, but this instance makes we want to vomit.

I’m sure Toni was only joking but as usual the media made a big deal out of it. In an interview at Wimbledon Federer said he couldn’t stop laughing when Rosol thumped Rafa in the 5th set , that was nastier in my opinion.

Again, to me that was only nasty when taken out of context or with Fed-suspicious vision. I thought it was clear that he meant he was laughing at the audacity of some of the shot making from Rosol – kind of a “wtf? He went for that? And made the shot?” thing – not that Rafa was losing or getting thumped.
