Friday was Alzheimer’s Action Day and Rafa tweeted his support:
Quiero enviar desde aquí todo mi apoyo a los 25 millones de personas que conviven día a día con el #Alzheimer #diamundialdelalzheimer
— Rafa Nadal (@RafaelNadal) September 21, 2012
This meant a lot to me personally because Alzheimer’s runs in both sides of my family. Every year I walk in a fundraising event for the Alzheimer’s organization. This is a horrid disease that puts horrendous stress on families – not only the sufferer, but the family members who provide care. I encourage you to Go Purple to End Alzheimer’s or, if you want, contribute to my walk.

Designed to Move – a new initiative from Nike.
As someone who’s doing her best to go from a non-mover to a mover, I can attest to the change in your quality of life. I’ve never felt better. (Yes, okay, I had to have a cortisone shot in my foot this week thanks to problems caused by my shoes, but still.) The one thing that’s bad about it? It takes away time from sitting on my ass, keeping up with twitter, trolling the web for RafaNews, and working on this site!

Miri,
As always, thanks for keeping us up to date. Thanks also for collecting for a cure to Alzheimers. It runs in my mom’s side and has taken family members and friends. As you say, it is a terrible, destructive affliction, and no way to remember loved ones. I hope Rafa’s support moves more people to find out about this dread disease and contribute to its eradication.
On a happier note, glad to hear that you are going forward with your athletic program. Getting back on one’s feet is well worth the twinges and body gripes along the way. Now, if an app were invented to read aloud your tweets, we all could keep up whilst on the move! Myself, I’m hoping someone will publish an audiobook entitled, “Rafanglish — Learn to Speak Fantastico in 100 Easy Trainings!” Narrated, of course, by The Man himself.
I can’t begin to express how much I miss this guy. But happy that he is working his way to being healthy. I live in Calgary, Alberta, and just read that there is a possibility in Team Spain playing Team Canada in Calgary for Davis Cup! Good Lord, please make it so!!!!
I came across this article and thought other fans may like to read:

Thank you very much, JayDee50. I read it with great interest!
Thanks. I also enjoyed this article. I clicked on the link, in the article, to watch the shot from the ’09 Madrid semi and got hooked for a spell watching youtubes of amazing Rafa shots, sure do miss him!
Yes I like the article aswell. It reminds me why I love Rafa & his tennis. His never give up attitude & playing each match like it could be his last. That semi in Madrid was painful for us to watch & Rafa to play literally. I was torn between watching & turning it off, but he came through like the true fighter he is & will do so again in the future I’m very sure.
Did exactly the same thing Isabelle! Why does it feel like someone is knocking the wind out of me every time that ball comes back over the net from Rafa’s opponents? And that I have participated in every winner he hits down the line…or anywhere in the court?
Exhilarating and exhausting at the same time- this Rafa tennis watching!
Great article. Thanks!
“Getting a little worked up”, he cracked me up he is so intense in his fan mode! It is nice to see him enjoying life during his recovery time.
I had to laugh…reminded me of us Rafa fans cheering and anguishing over his matches!
For certain! We are all sympatico in our intensity! Vamos Rafa and Rafa amigos!
Just catching up with the site news ….. O my how I do miss those brilliant tennis shots from Rafa ….. do hope he’ll be back soon. Thanks Miri for all the news.
