@bluemathilde has posted some photos from Rafa’s practice session. You can find them in her twitter stream.
Articles:
- Rafael Nadal: la historia de una lesión – a history of Rafa’s injury. (History, so nothing new. Here’s the mangle.)
- The Tennis Space Rafa Nadal Quiz – IMHO, not entirely factual.
Photos:
- Lots of Rafa photos in this 2012 Roland Garros set
- A few more here
Rafa does social media:
Not really social media, but Rafa’s written another travel blog – this entry is about Mallorca (mangle)
Oh, and he’s still cheerleading big time via Twitter and Facebook. He also let us know he was taking steps to get back up to speed.

Possible smaller tournament? I think Monfils has entered at Winston Salem. Some tennis fans will be very lucky if this happens.
Indeed!
where is Winston Salem in the US?
One word describes how i felt this morning, when I saw Rafa’s FB posting……UPLIFTED!!! :D
Winston Salem is in North Carolina, USA & is a ATP world tour 250 tournament!
when??? I am in NC, that would be great!!!!!
19th-25th August!! :)
thanks for info,Reva.
Added a link to a Rafa Facebook status I left off.
Winston Salem is only one hour and 15 minutes away! That would be awesome!
Uncle Toni in flip flops on the practice court! I guess the Nadal men are island boys at heart.
Wonderful. The best news I could have hoped for to start my day. I have complete faith in Rafa and his team, and if he is back to practising, even step by step, then this is a good sign, no?
Loved the photos of him in the Roland Garros set, and can’t wait to see him back on court having many conversations with Towel :)
So far so good! Take all the time you need, Rafa.
That photo of him in the travel blog is adorable. So good to see that smile again.
Btw. miri, in these Rafatennis-less times, I hope you’ll add a photo of Rafa biting the RG trophy for the 7th time to the site banner. It might remind us to keep the faith :)
Hi Miri,
The pdf version of Rafa’s travel blog at the very bottom of the page (even in the mangle) seems to have a better English than the mangle. Just FYI :)
Thanks for the update!
There is also a small challenger hard court tournament in Sevilla? I think Isner is the defending champ at Winston-Salem? It will be exciting to see what Rafa decides to do!
I don’t quite understand how he would miss Cincy. We’re talking getting in a few matches. He could request a Wednesday start. I’m guessing he doesn’t go full out even if he does play in Cincy. I think he’ll be ready for the USO because there are two weeks of rest after that. I think you’ll see some other players who are playing in Toronto skip Cincy in favor of playing Winston-Salem or resting. Because of the Olympics, a lot of players risk burning themselves out by the time the US Open arrives.
Well, I’ll say this – he seems to be handling his injury and time off from playing very well. I was imagining him climbing the walls and maybe becoming a little despondent, but he looks genuinely happy in the pics he posts at home with his extended family. I remain hopeful, but I sure do miss the little fella.
Questions about whether Rafa will be at the U.S. Open :(

Even Fed is speculating about Rafa’s injuries being real. *sigh* This speculation is irritating – as if Rafa would miss all of these opoortunities on a lark – especially as he was to be flag bearer. “He seemed fine at Wimbledon.” How the heck would anyone other than Rafa have any real idea if he were fine or not? Grrrr.
