Sorry I haven’t been posting much lint – been super busy and then I lost the lint post I’d been working on in a computer malfunction. Oops! Plus, it’s been a bit quiet in RafaLand.

Thanks Miri for the info, and you are right, it has been quiet in RafaLand, and just as well, I think.
A much needed break away from the spotlight all the time hopefully has been good for Rafa.

I agree with you on the Olympic outfit, there is not much to say, but if anyone can make something so ugly look just a bit acceptable, it has to be Rafa!

Ella Ling´s photos from Roland Garros are great to watch, I especially enjoyed 347, where Rafa´s racket happened to frame Novak´s face, which is quite funny! One can make an interpretation in no time here, as it was all meant to be, the racket wouldn´t take its eyes off Novak – Rafa at work!
Also you can never get tired of pictures 369 and 370. Those scenes will stay in my heart forever and ever.

Finally I find the article by Christopher Kissane quite interesting, as it is a fine piece of work. Especially the whole black swan theme, makes it worth reading.

    Who designed that? Lol.

Rosol/Nadal hype getting fed up with it now. A Not so well known tennis player played the match of his life and knocked out a higher ranked player who was a favorite to win the title. So what, it happens sometimes.
Why all the analaysis and scrutiny still? If it had been Roger or Novak beaten in the same circumstances it would not be talked about in the same way.

Looking forward to olympic tennis ,most of all Rafa , not expecting to much but hope he does well. If no gold medal for Rafa then anyone but Fed to win.

Miri, the original source for Ljubicic’ quotes is this Croatian article:

    http://sportske.jutarnji.hr/nadal-gurnuo-ljubu-niz-stepenice—valjda-mu-smeta-sto-sam-dobar-s-federerom-/1041429/

Yesterday, some Croatian people on Twitter provided some translations, but I can’t find them now. I do remember that they essentially correspond to the translation you’re linking here, though.

  4. JayDee50 says:

Thanks for all the lint, some very interesting articles here. But Ljubicic, is he serious? Rafa jealous of his relationship with Roger? Whatever…

The best post for me was Rafa’s own FB picture of him stretching “after practice”….woo hoo!! He must surely be back to practising again and says he is very eager to come to London. Could not have hoped to read anything better. Very positive and encouraging stuff. Wonder how many times, once he is back at Wimbledon, the commentators will bring up the subject of ‘his shocking loss to Rosol in the 2nd round’. So very bored of it now. Move on, commies, move on….

    • Denizen says:

The Spanish version of his update said “after physical training”, not “after practice”, and David Nadal reported that Dr. Sanchez didn’t want Rafa to pick up a racket until Thursday, so I think he just worked out in his home gym.

      • JayDee50 says:

Oh. Well thank you for pointing that out. I guess the stretching thing was all part of his workout. I still see this as a positive thing. Maybe on Thursday he will post a pic actually with racket in hand somewhere. We can only hope for him to get in as much practice as possible before the Games start.

  5. Melissa says:

“I have no words.” Um, well, that pic does scream to me, “Pizza’s here!” or “The circus is coming to town!”

Any Armadan wearing that rig will be sure to win at the net, because his opponent will be convulsed with laughter. I foresee many concessions by hysterical contenders. Just looking at that pic is enough to induce mild LSD flashbacks in those of us from the ’60s …

Irritable Ivan had already finished his own grave with his tweet about American tennis players. Must be too quiet a life, just the wife and kids in Monaco. With any luck, though, he can pick up a commie job and badmouth Rafa to his heart’s content. Sad to have so small a soul.

  6. Nils says:

The outfit!oh,god.really nothing to say.The tot Rafa is so cute and yes, that same adorable expression on him. And, compared to some of the others’ bio pic, Rafa’s is way better.
good to see so much lint after so long. Thanks, Miri.

  7. Izzie says:

Oh Lordy Lordy – its like the Spanish Olympic team deliberately set out to make the most hideous uniforms possible. And boy did they succeed! I understand they contracted with some Russian firm for them – Spainards have a great sense of fashion – why in the world they didn’t use one of their own designers, I just don’t know…

Lubcic is flattering himself if he thinks Rafa is jealous of him or personally attacking him…

The jealous remark was meant to demean and continue to put Rafa “under” Roger, and even put Rafa under Lubicic. Silly, arrogant and clueless. I hope Rafa had a good laugh over it.

And yes I would think Rafa has a lot of “power” by now – he’s been the # 1 or # 2 ATP tennis player for the past 6 years now, sheesh…
King Roger does not get to run the show all by himself.

Rafa may be advocating for leadership coming from other people at the ATP, but that doesn’t mean he is personally working against Lubicic. If Roger and Lubicic have been sharing the same positions on recent ATP issues, then yes, Rafa is likely to wind up on the opposite side of Lubicic on a number of Issues – but I doubt its some sort of personal vendetta against Lubicic.

I wish quite frankly that Rafa would remove himself completely from ATP politics. Politics are soul sucking and dysfunctional. I wish he would focus on other things that are more rewarding for him…

    • Ramara says:

Someone should link that Ljubicic article to Pseudo Fed. I’d love to see what he could do with it, although there’s only so much you can do to parody what already reads like a parody, I suppose.

      • poh123 says:

Unbelievable. Ljubicic likes to stirr the pot. Always has. It is almost laughable. Oh well, we’ve given it too much attention already. Silly stuff.
Where are these Spanish Uniforms everyone is talking about?

        • Susanna728 says:

Really? I’ve only ever heard Ljubicic say good things about Rafa (e.g. in press conferences after he lost to Rafa) and thought everything in the article was extremely bizarre.

          • sharon says:

Ljubicic has been saying very stupid things about Rafa going all the way back to 05 or 06. Don’t know what his problem is but this is just more of the same ridiculous nonsense.

  8. poh123 says:

Oh my lord, just saw the uniforms. The Spanish people are making fun of it as well. What happened to Spain??? They are usually so tasteful!
Oh boy…well it might bring them luck.

  9. Julie says:

The uniforms…oh my, hard to look at actually. Is it too late for a makeover??

  10. Melissa says:

I have finally figured out why the Spanish *costumes* are so . . . bizarre. Three words:

    Full. Body. Condom.

Should take care of all that Olympic Village debauchery quite nicely.

    • Julie says:

LOL…agree, except when I think of Rafa all decked out in the garish garb…who cares about the packaging? :)

  11. Kevin says:

So Ljubicic thinks Rafa is jealous. Well, Ljubicic is the old and bitter LOSER who is jealous of Rafa’s accomplishments! Ljubicic should be ASHAMED of himself. He is just mad that he has been CRUSHED by Rafa on court so many times. Ljubicic is an old, ugly SLAMLESS loser, while Rafa has 11 Slams- that’s why Ljubicic dislikes Rafa.
