Well I didn’t watch any of his matches in Halle but it seems he just needed one or two matches on grass before attacking the real thing in Wimbledon. Was he really that irritated at his performance? I think he usually plays this preparation tournament knowing deep down that he doesn’t have the emotional strength to fight for more than one or two matches. Apparently he has learnt that he cannot use all his energy up before Wimbledon and I don’t blame him. The RG final was a very demanding match that drained him emotionally so I guess it is normal to not chase every ball in a preparation torunament right after that.

I hope it is not wishful thinking but I think he will be back to his fighting mode in a week.

no he didn’t look injured. he was just tired. I think it looked pretty hot and humid in there with the roof closed. probably quite stultifying when you’re already feeling a bit slugish.

Rafa did not look injured, did he?. It worries me to read you guys saying he wasn’t running down balls like he normally does.
Was he asked something about it in the press conference…?.

I watched the whole match and I agree with one of the posters above that he did not try and run down everything like he normally does. At one point in the match they showed how many meters he had run in a point versus Kholschrieber and Rafa was doing half as much running.

I was so happy when I heard he lost. No shame losing to Kohls, I like the guy and he is defending champh here. He can go home, relax for a few days, watch Euro and US Open Golf in peace. I wonder when he’ll make the trip to London though. He might probably be home today. Think he’ll make the trip on Thursday.
