Barcelona: Rolling along

It was another quick day for Rafa in Barcelona. He played #246 Robert Farah and it was pretty much no contest. After a bad start, Farah did step things up a bit to give Rafa a bit of a challenge, but the outcome of the match never felt in doubt. Rafa’s through: 6-2, 6-3.

    Fantastic result again

    Unfortunately I cannot watch the matches on the internet or Tv but im hoping to see Rafa live at the french open or wimbledon.

    Onto the 48th title

  2. Nana says:

    Credit to the opponent for giving his all to get a presentable scoreline. But to be honest this wasn’t the most enjoyable match to watch! But a straight forward win is a straight forward win. Vamos Rafa! Onto the next! Rolling in the dirt continues!

  3. Tina says:

    Saw the match, well done Rafa, but seemed to me he was not happy at the end. Hope it´s because he might not be fully satisfied with his game, hopefully not because of the knee problems!

    Thank you Natasa

  6. CC says:

    Although I had no doubts about the positive outcome for Rafa today, I felt that he wasn’t particularly sharp out there. Bit of a footie hangover from last night, ‘ey? That’s what happens when you support losers, sweetie… ;)

    • Natasa says:

      he played better yesterday, today was a play just to win. maybe you are right,maybe he had footie hangover, as you say but wouldn’t call Real Madrid losers. that’s sport, you win, you lose!

    • L says:

      Agree, It seemed to me he wasn’t fully engaged in the match, it’s as though he was too calm out there probably a consequence of who he was playing. He’ll need to up the focus and intensity tomorrow against Tipsy.

    • Ch F says:

      I hope it’s footie hangover and not the knees.

    i just managed to watch the highlights, so it’s difficult to have a good idea of the match. still:
    rafa served better than yesterday;
    he had some amazing groudstrokes, even with the backhand!;
    but he played too far from the baseline, which he really shouldn’t do as his game is so much more effective when he’s more inside the court;
    still he had good depth, much better than last year for example.
    All in all, I think it might be lacking focus, and honestly, he’s just won an historic 8th MC, and against Djokovic at that, he’s played majestically yesterday against GGL, he was facing a nobody (though on fire) today, I cannot blame him for not being super concentrated…
    But he certainly beed to improve this aspect of his game tomorrow, together with court positioning
