Rafa does social media:

  • In the most adorable and dorktastic way, Rafa let us know that he, Maymo and Marc! where enjoying Miami.

Tweets about Rafa:

nidssserz is in Miami – follow her for tweets and photos from the tournament!

Benito had some things to say about the L’Equipe interview (sorry things are re-peaty, Benito replied to himself which confuses the heck out of embedded tweets):

Which mangles to:

thanks but the translation of some elements was wrong and of course the Spanish press reaction wrong … anyway!

to be fair the translation was wrong from Spanish into French and then sack EFE statements out of context ..

Rafa Nadal never said “fucking” but “damn” … anyway. Do not always see evil in things

I think we all can relate:

I truly do not understand why Benito would go on a Twitter rant fixating on the level of Rafa’s cursing, when the points Rafa made were unambiguous and valid, and given that Rafa curses as much as Benito or anyone else for that matter.

    • miri says:

I know. I don’t get it. It’s a word that doesn’t change the message at all.

      • Nana says:

I think he could be ranting about the fact that that quote was specifically highlighted in the headlines of many Spanish newspapers. Rafa spoke in Spanish, translated in French in L’Equipe, then back to Spanish and the wording got stronger.

      • sharon/London says:

Maybe he wanted to set the record straight regarding Rafa sayin the F word in an interview , which i didn’t believe from the off and posted as so, as he is a role model for many young children.

        • Denizen says:

But apart from the few who follow Benito on Twitter, and I’m guessing that his followers don’t fit the “young children” demographic, with whom did he set the record straight? He just ranted IMO.

Seems to me that Benito overreacts sometimes, like when he accused Lynn Barber of showing up drunk for her interview with Rafa, and when he made an unprovoked cocaine joke about Yannick Noah to the Roland Garros twitter account.

          • leslie says:

Well I am sure not a young child but still very much appreciate the distiction between damn and the f word being used in Rafa’s interview. I have never heard or read an interview where Rafa used it and can only applaud Benito for his loyalty in trying to clarify on Rafa’s behalf. I may be in the minority but it does make a difference to me.

Oops, found this after posting (added a link in the photo section) – some doubles pictures in this set.

  3. CC says:

Rafa’s players’ party outfit is better this time, but still… And the hair. Clippers, a big whiskey and off we go Rafa.
Tsonga looks hot as hell; trust the French to have style! Love me a denim shirt.

  4. Aini says:

Thanks for the Roland Garros 2005 finals link..I got Teary eyed watching it..

    • Patricia says:

Yes thanks, quite nostalgic, the hair, the shirt, the paints and boy wasn’t he happy to have won. Havn’t seen him doing his “socks routine” for a while. Loved it.

    • Isabelle says:

Yes, this was great to see. I can’t take the time to watch it all right now but caught the beginning and the last 20 minutes. What a cutie pie and among other things no line cleaning after each point.

    • leslie says:

Yes, Mucho gracias for giving the link to the Roland Garros 2005- watched it for the first time and wow Rafa is Hot Hot Hot! And very young and adorable too. Loved the chance to see his brilliant tennis, his determination and enthusiasm as it was in 2005. What a delight he was and is!

Seeing some of the practice pics from Nida, it’s looks so hot out there and we know Rafa doesn’t like the humidity. I keep having flashbacks to last years final after which he was dehydrated:/ Maybe the conditions will force him to be more aggressive, to end the match quickly:)
