And we know this thanks to the iB3 and their airport stalking ways:

Check davidjnadal’s twitter for quotes from the interview and feel free to mangle them. I’m late getting back to work from lunch!

Many thanks Miri. I miss him already.

  2. JC says:

Considering the history leading up to this match and the way it played out, I find this quote truly amazing:

“I’ve done things well, both mentally and play. I left the final happy, not sad or angry. I enjoyed playing”.

What a true champion he is!

    • Julie says:

I wonder if that was a surprise and a relief for Rafa – being able to enjoy playing and not be distraught over the final. Perhaps rediscovering a deeper passion and commitment than he’s had for awhile. So great to see that fire in him again.

  3. wenche says:

I am so glad he is back home in Mallorca. Hope he can get som rest.

  4. sunset says:

I just booked the tickets to Sony Ericsson Open. Hope to see you in Miami, Rafa.
Miri predicted “a long and bumpy ride” for Rafa fans; well I am in for the ride! If a no-frazzle ride is what I wanted I would have become a Roger fan since long ago…The dragon-tamer in you is what keeps me interested in watching tennis.

  5. Emma says:

the lady wanted pecks on both cheeks, rafa!

  6. eva says:

Ugh, I barely want to speak to my family after such a long plane flight. The bum gets sore too. Poor Rafa, his long way home has way too many obstacles. I can imagine him closing the door and just collapsing on his bed. Maybe with a jar of Nutella and a few Quelys no? ;)

  7. Nic says:

Poor darling looks so tired! And he grew a 5 o’ clock shadow during the 30hours of flying LOL. If you see his video taken in Melbourne from before the flight you’ll know :) Boy does he still look gorgeous as heck in that polo. And love love love those curls. So pretty Rafa.

  8. Leslie says:

Rafa has posted short messages in English and Spanish on his Facebook page.
His Facebook page is gaining more fans all the time – at 9,366,379 when I read this am !!!! Wouln’t it nice for him to get to 10 million before Indian Wells to give him a boost?

    • Emma says:

That’s fantastic! Before the aus open his Facebook was at 8.5 mil thereabouts no? Or maybe close to 9mil. He gained so many new fans after AO! And s quickly closing the gap to roger’s! The world loves our lovely Rafa!

      • sharon says:

Before the AO Rafa was at 9,011,000 and now he’s at 9,385,000 – amazing jump in less than three weeks. His facebook numbers have been going up like crazy. Six months ago he was at 7,800,000.

At the end of June last year, Roger had 715,000 more friends on fb than Rafa. Today, that gap is down to just over 300,000. Rafa will probably pass him by clay season. (not that I’m keeping track or anything *blush*)

      • faeaki says:

Yes the commentators mentioned during the match that although Roger is the most admired tennis player of all time, Rafa is certainly the most loved!!! amen! to that.

  9. oussama says:

what is happening to you in last set you was 4/2 what is happening to you ? rafa

  10. OzTee says:

He did look so tired at the airport after his flight. I really felt for him and that long trip home. I am sad he has left Melbourne, it is hard to wait 12 months to get to see him again. You guys are so lucky to be closer to so much Tennis everywhere else in the world.

  11. faeaki says:

He does look tired, THE most tired I have ever seen him.. poor sweetie just needs total rest…
