Site News: Bye-bye community

Hey guys. I’m going to close down the Community section of the site. The people using it the most are spammers and I get tired of deleting them and their accounts. For those who registered via it and uploaded an avatar, I’m not sure what this will mean for you. If you lose your avatar, you can always switch to a universal Gravatar. Instructions on how to do that can be found here.

Also, at some point this weekend, I’ll be upgrading the software used to run this site. Things might be wonky for awhile. Hold tight, I’ll get things up and running again as soon as I can. Thanks for your patience.

Glad you are making your life a bit easier by doing some feng shui on the site! Thanks for taking such good care of all us Rafa addicts.

Well, so far I’ve managed to completely bork the site templates. *sigh* They are still pulling in community code and I don’t know why. Grrr.

The “Around the Web” RSS feed in the footer is randomly not working again. This happened once in the page and I don’t remember what fixed it. I’m gonna sleep on it and hope I have an idea soon.

Hi Miri – I have lost my inbox/messaging facility. Is this part of the software upgrade you are doing at the moment? I have a “howdy Reva” in the top right hand corner of my screen, so know i am logged in. Do i need to sit tight and wait for things to reappear? Many thanks. :)

Yes, sorry. That is part of losing the Community section – it was a feature of that software. I’m looking into seeing if there’s a way to include just that, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Any chance of having a mobile version of the site?
