Back to practice
First, Rafa let us know he was back at work. Then, the iB3 showed up to give us evidence in video form:
@davidjnadal tweeted about the interview. Here are his tweets and then a mangle:
RafaelNadal a @ @ for @ IB3noticies joanmartimir: “The season has been pretty good, but obviously not perfect”
“But if a Temprado win the Davis, Roland Garros, Monte Carlo, Barcelona and you end up in two Grand Slams again, it is very good
Nadal: “It is clear that there were things not so good things to improve, it’s time to assess what they have done well not to try to improve”
Nadal: “Finishing with a win like that of Davis is a source of happiness and helps me to face the next with more enthusiasm”
Nadal: “I will work hard to start the year and season. Then in February I will have 3 or 4 weeks off and time to stop”
Rafael Nadal: “I have yet discomfort in the knee, in the coming weeks I’ll review it to recover well”
“No time to stop, will train with caution and next week I’ll get a good look to see what to do with the knee”
Nadal pokes some media: “What happens is you have to write. Normally I do not say …… positive and negative if interested and, the truth is that in the media if you give a little light to a story that can be negative …… they catch you with tweezers and pulling them out of context. the only thing I have said is that next year … / @ RafaelNadal
“… I will not be able to start Davis Cup as I need rest. Then we’ll see” Rafel Nadal dixit
He also tweeted some short videos:

Great to see Rafa back in practice(that’s one tight top):)
He doesn’t seem too worried about the knee but with Rafa you never know and I just hope it’s nothing serious. I’m remembering that he did have issues during the clay season in 2010 when he skipped Barcelona but he got treatment and it didn’t seem to hinder him after that. I just don’t want a repeat of Oz2010/11:(
I really hope Rafa doesn’t feel pressure to play DC next year because after the win in Seville he seemed pretty adamant that he wouldn’t play. He and the rest of the Armada have been a part of 4 winning teams, they’re all getting older and Rafa and Daveed especially have a lot of miles on their legs, they have the right to prioritize other things.
I am not liking this problem with the knee. This was a bit unexpected or was it that he twisted it with all the dancing! Does anyone know more about it. Is it tentinitis back again? – looks like it with the way the bandage is and will he go for more injections. Maybe that’s the reason for the rest and the 4 weeks of in Feb. I know alot of Rafa fans do tend to frazzle but ……
How come he is back so soon to practice. Isn’t he meant to have a rest. All a bit barmy if you ask me and especially if there is a knee problem. Rafa I know they say practice makes perfect but the body and mind needs rest. Don’t touch a ball until the 28th when you play that exhibition x
Also I think it now explains the issues in the Davis cup first set no? The short balls, the weak serve, no power. He overcame all this by fighting for his life. What a warrior he really is, but now has to sacrifice with the knee problem. I guess we will find out next week the seriousness of it. But this suddenly has come a bolt out of the blue no?
I read in an article (can’t remember where – I read so much articles) that he was treated at a clinic (Saturday) for pain in his knee. Also that he indicated on Sunday (during change overs to Toni and Roig) in first set that he struggles with serve because of the knee. Luckily this is not new to him and won’t ‘freak him out’ and his team will take care of it accordingly.
It was reported in Seville that he had pain in the knee before his match against Pico & he had to have injections.
Meant to reply to rafafan.
Keeping my fingers crossed about the knee. But the good news is that the passion’s back! I think the tough win has energized him in a way another walkover would not have.
Well said – ‘But the good news is that the passion’s back!’ Rafa’s body language is definately 100% better. One can sense a difference. If his body allows him, 2012 will be a joy for us his fans. Fingers crossed for the physical side of his game, the mental side is there already.
Yes, hoope he can recover and have a brilliant 2012! loving the tight tee, btw!
So does anyone know whether it is the tenititis then? Its most worrying really if it is or a new injury. I thought with all the injections he has with the new experiment it was working. Whenever i see any short balls in the court and no power we now know why. Hate to say it but this doesn’t bode very well for next year and I think we fans are going to be on another journey roller coaster with the highs and lows of his injuries as well as his tennis. As someone said please please lets not have another AO retirement and then the injury against Davee x
shouldn’t Rafa be going off to have that treatment for the knees? i dont like how he seems to be carrying on in pain? i feel really deflated by this news….:-( hope that the pain goes and Rafa sorts it out.
I rewatched the match (Rafa/Delpo)and celebrations afterwards today and saw when getting off the podium after the medal presentation that Rafa struggling and grimacing. I also noticed that he sat down on a few occasions, but ya he did just finished a 4 hour plus match and maybe I’m just a bit paranoid. I really hope that this injury won’t slow down his campaign in 2012. And Rafa, please stay out of the water in Doha, no water tennis this year.
oh no not another injury worry. Shoulder, knee, foot and viruses is all you read and hear this year. I hope in 2012 he picks his schedule carefully and doesn’t overplay. I would rather see him play less, play well and be fit and healthy.
Just wanted to share a wonderful link for those of you missing tennis and impatient for the Oz Open:

Loads of classic matches & a beautiful easy to use layout. Four Rafa matches – two from 2009 – you know which, right? :-) plus the loss vs Tsonga from 2008 and another loss, but a great match vs Hewitt in 2005.
I just hope and wish that the other slams would do the same!!!
