RC: Draw photos

Some photos from draw day.

The caption on one:

Rafael Nadal of Spain walks along the shore of Lake Ontario while waiting for a helicopter flight to practice for the Rogers Cup tennis tournament in Toronto August 6, 2010.

Well, goodness forbid he sit or stand still and wait!

  1. Eliana says:

Hahaha he looks frozen in those chopper photos. Gotta love Rafa! Oh, and Rafa exploring nature: my new wallpaper.

  2. Isabelle says:

Once again, no socks :~). He looks most unhappy in that chopper!

  3. Atch2 says:

Those are not the faces of someone enjoying the helicopter ride. Maybe they got a lady driver because it was a small copter and she would be make it less scary?

Did Rafa get a hockey shirt from the big athletic looking guy?

There was suppose to be a Q&A livestream during the draw ceremony. Was there miri?

Still don’t understand the Love means nothing to Nadal slogan.

    • miri says:

He got the hockey shirt at the end of the draw ceremony.

      Yes, short Q&A.

How do they announce a score of zero (nothing) in tennis?

      • Atch2 says:

        Thanks miri.
I thought there was more to the ‘love’ (zero) in the slogan.

        • Susanna728 says:

Interesting – it’s like a Rorschach test – I thought: Love means nothing if you’re a tennis addict..(all you need is tennis?).

        • miri says:

I don’t know about elsewhere, but in the US it’s a really old joke to say that you should never fall in love with a tennis player, because to them love means nothing.

Pic 3 “exploring nature” is heaven to me. Heaven. I’ll overlook the fact that they’re all weeds, and that’s an artifically constructed shoreline… It’s Rafa, water, greenery, heaven!

  5. Nana says:

Why do these tourney people insist on choppers / scary high-rises for Rafa? Don’t they know he’s scared of heights? But then, I also take joy in looking at his nervous face, priceless ;)

  6. an says:

Helicopter Rafa might be scared but he’s also HOT!

I’m sure i’ve noticed it before but uhhh, Rafa’s hand is big waving at us in his helicoptor;)

  7. Keith says:

PR people seem to have no immagination: all the big players are put into all the same places and events with no allowance for their individual characters.

The grapple in the Apple was quite atrocious and Federa obviously thought so but kept his opinions private. PR rules the world.

  8. blue says:

Rafa is so tense inside the chopper.haha! Well, it’s a breather to see him with the greens, mountains and wild grasses…for a change…change of atmosphere is really good, even for us expectators, (of course speaking mostly for myself) :)

  9. Maria says:

Pic #3 is my fav pic too, although I find it really difficult to imagine Rafa really exploring nature. Nope, I really can’t picture him stolling in huge forests, standing on mountain tops, or canoeing in angry water of his own free will. No way.
