Oye. That looks awful. He passed up the nice looking salads…for…fries and pasta. (Thanks for sending in the vid, Inés.)

Salad doesn’t give you energy although he could have skipped the fries lol! At least he is smiling swoon heehee!

    • miri says:

Yeah, I know salad isn’t good match-day food (and he was probably still thinking match day here), but that’s just a sad looking plate of carbs.

    • Karen says:

Is that Tommy Robredo with what looks like a towel scarf round his neck? He looks much nicer in casual clothes! But not as handsome as our Rafa. Glad he’s getting plenty of carbs to keep him going. I’m sure he’s also having lots of fruit if not veg!

  2. patzin says:

Rafa and Tommy Robredo are eating same foods – pasta and fries. Interesting combination.

  3. Holly says:

yuk! looked like he had some fish as well….

  4. kefuoe says:

White pasta, white potatoes, white bread. Oh Rafa. Would it kill you to eat something as colorful as your match clothes?

  5. CC says:

Well, shit pommes frites, literary speaking! A bit of tomato sauce maybe…at least?

I might be in a minority here, but I absolutely adore Rafa in grey sweats and hoodie. Mmmm…I can feel that arse through the softie fabric. :D

Tommy looks hot, even with a towel as a scarf!!!

    • JC says:

Yeah, he looks totally hot! The poor girl at the check out had a hard time doing her job… I would have grabbed him right there! And after a bite of me, he wouldn’t need no carbs, you know what I mean ;-)

      • CC says:

Oh, yes. I know exactly what you mean. You know, you could take a bite out of him too. And then you could still do lunch afterwards. ;)

    • JC says:

I mean Rafa, of course, though Tommy is cute too.

  6. Debbie says:

Rafa is the only man that can pull off a grey tracksuit and look incredibly sexy!! and Maymo you are doing strange things to me, it must be the Rafa effect. He has a rather good looking team!

    • Karen says:

Talking about Maymo, I’m gonna have to admit that my postman looks like his double! He must think I’m mad because I can’t help but smile and be very cheery each time I take the post off him. He gets my day off to a good start as I immediately think of Rafa!

  7. sia says:

Is Rafa looking for his tournament pass? He probably has to show it to the cashier.
Why is everything in English? French Open, no?

  8. Choices says:

Well he needs his carbs Miri… we may need the salads but he needs the carbs lol

  9. Inés says:

It’s Paris, it’s France but the meal doesn’t look specially tasty, lol, the potatoes are the frozen type, yuck

  10. Libby says:

Holy carbo loading, Batman! And then he dunked olive oil all over the pasta. :) I think I gained five pounds just watching that video.

It’s not astonishing, considering the amount of energy he expends . . . but for some reason I’m still astonished.

    • Atch2 says:

Can someone explain it to me. Pasta with olive oil? No sauce, no salt and pepper. Is that a European thing?

Why is Maymo loaded like camel at lunch and Rafa doesn’t have a care in the world.

Yes Rafa in his little grey tracksuit is adorable. And everyone wants to talk to and touch Rafa :)
Was Tommy doing the high school cafeteria thing and looking for a friend to sit with?

Plain pasta with olive oil is indeed a Mediterranean thing, a poor farmers’ staple food since forever. Also very healthy, actually: easy to digest, so you can go and plough your land (or play tennis) right afterwards, and full of non-saturated fat, great for your arteries.

A slightly improved version is aglio-olio-pepperoncini (plain pasta with olive oil and a tiny quantity of finely chopped garlic & red chilli). Excellent.

Another light Mediterranean meal: slice of bread drizzled with olive oil (kids’ version is sprinkled with sugar). Another for adults: long sticks of stale bread soaked into a shallow plate of chilled red wine with a bit of water and olive oil. Refreshing in summer and helps use all your stale bread.

  11. CC says:

I keep reading the *hot main courses* sign and NOT thinking about food afterwards. Strange…

    • miri says:

I kept giggling because he spent so long by the “cheese” sign…I bet it was mocking him, making his knees shake in fear.

  12. tiemyshoe says:

Don’t worry – I’m sure he balanced out the meal with chocolate afterward.

    • Karen says:

Yes indeed a few choc chip cookies or choccy muffins & chocolate milkshake will wash it all down nicely!! Would love to help get the melted sticky chocolate off his fingers!!!!!!

Huh, the pasta and fish i completly can understand on a match day… Not so much the fries, but hey maybe they’re not good for the body but good for the mind?
And oh, the ammount off olive oil he puts over his pasta…
My doctor tells me evry time that i should try to gain some weight, i think i should have Rafa over for a month or so, maybe eating along with him would do the trick, altough???

A little sallad to go with it would have bin nice Miri, i agree!

I love the grey sweat pants an hoodie too, absolutly love it!
After youre comments about Tommy and Maymo i watched this vid already 5 times and tryed to concentrate on them….. I fail evry time… :D

Hot male courses you said?? Yes please, i made my pick!;)

    • CC says:

      Ahhh…*hot MALE courses*, that’s why I couldn’t stop looking.

Gain weight with Rafa? No, I’d be hoping to burn all those calories off with him. And it wouldn’t be through playing tennis. ;)

  14. miri says:

I forgot – I love the laughs from the announcer guys after they show that close up of Rafa’s plate. I may not speak Spanish, but I could tell they were amused by the colossal pile of pasta/carbs on the plate.

    • Inés says:

Not exactly, lol, Tomás Carbonel, a former player, was saying that the cafeteria is not like a restaurant with Michelin star, that is a buffet more like a highway cafeteria, frozen fries and white pasta…. Sorry to disappoint you, :))

  15. Nana says:

They couldn’t find seats! But I can totally understand how crowded the site was yesterday.

  16. Jennifer says:

He put so such oliver oil to the pasta…
