Such an awesome shot by Nadal! I’m truly pleased that this specific breathtaking shot by Nadal was selected as the “Final hot shot” for this historic 2010 Madrid Masters 1000 final. And the timing for this beauty for perfect, Nadal serving at 4-5, 40-30 in the 2nd set, so that this winner brought the score at 5-5.

Nadal’s tactical preparation, while running at full speed all the way across the court, was amazing! He prepared the shot as a two-handed backhand so that Federer expected a down the line or down the center shot and positioned himself accordingly. Then Nadal at the last second converted to a one-handed backhand to enable him to carry the ball across at an extremely wide angle, an almost 180 degrees angle, right in front of Federer. A perfect tactics/shot executed to perfection with the perfect timing! Bravissimo, Nadal!

In my opinion, Nadal played quite a few absolutely superb backhands during his final match against Federer in Madrid today! But this particular one-handed backhand truly deserved being the “Final hot shot” of Nadal writing, at the age of 23, history with winning his ATP record-setting 18th ATP Masters 1000 title and his being the first ATP player ever to win all 3 Masters 1000 on clay (in the same year!) before the Roland Garros GS!

Congratulations and thank you for being such a great tennis player, Nadal!

You cheeky boy Rafa. Beautiful shot indeed coz Fed was having so much success with his drops but he couldn’t do anything in return iwht this one.

After Rafa tumbled on the clay, I kept wanting to help Rafa by wiping off the clay mark from his ass. But also hoped he would do a shorts change on court.

Never seen Papa Nadal so happy and expressive during Rafa’s match before.

Yes, watching that also made me grin ear-to-ear and also get a couple of tears in my eyes! Also seeing Papa Nadal SO happy was great! Great analysis, Rubik! Have not yet seen the match-looking forward to it when I get home to my DVR tomorrow.

This is an absolutely amazing shot. I have no clue how he got to the ball and how he hit such a shot in front of Fed. It’s obvious that Roger didn’t expect what was coming. Amazing Rafa. Very well played, excellent execution.

It’s awesome to see how proud Papa Nadal is. And he should be.
