Awh these moments are unforgettable although Rafa has brought us so many this one is so so special, after his injuries and all the doobts by so many, this has to mean so much I cannot imagine how he was feeling right there.. such a wonderful wonderful champion… I too will sleep blissfully tonight..!

Just beautiful to see Rafa covered in glorious red dirt! Of all his victory “releases” this one’s my favorite.

I remember Rafa had said that your losses make you understand the importance of your victories. I’m sure today’s victory means so much more to him because he’s been through so much recently. Great job, Rafa.

  9. CC says:

Gosh, love the way he set up that last point to finally hit a winner and take the match!!!

I wasn’t at all surprised to see him cry, it MUST have felt so fucking awesome.

I thought I might shed a tear, but didn’t. Watched a film with a friend after the match though, and cried my way through most of it. Heh, alhough I tried to be with colm, I guess I’d been feeling pretty tense during that whole match. :)

No wonder, No? It all is emotional…. I never cry when Bf goes back home on sunday evening but tonight i’m all tears… But it all are beautifull feelings…

      • Emma R says:

It’s weird how the emotions come out. My most wibbly moment over Rafa came when he beat Nando in Aus Open 09 SF, which I think was understandable. However I would never have thought I would be sniffling over a 6-0, 6-1 -but then the context is everything.

In that last game, at match point, I even was peering through my fingers and biting bits of me like it was a 5 set thriller over 5 hours of screeching at the telly.

Just want to give him the biggest cuddle in the world.

It was great that Rafa won on his own winner. You could see he was setting up the point.

He soo badly wanted dis victory to get the colm back. I have tears now after seeing him cry of happiness.

  11. Atch2 says:

Just want to run in and hug him. Then rub the clay off him.

  12. mary says:

When he started to cry into his towel that is when I broke down. It’s amazing how it effects us all. We have waited with him for over 11 months now. We’ve been with him in his lowest moments & now we can celebrate his success. No wonder we are all so emotional.
I’m praying that this is the start of an amazing run for Rafa. Hope his health will stay good. With the right type of physio & exercises we will get to see many more trophy biting moments!!!

  13. nic says:

ah, the sun is shining today in sydney, rafa has won a record-breaking title, his smiles alone are like rays of sunshine, and i might just be getting a new job. the world is a beautiful place today, and rafa has just made it all come together :)

  14. Madi says:

Oh that sobbing part is missing. Before he autographed the camera he was sobbing in to the towel. In a way I’m glad it’s not there. That moment held all the pain and effort he had to go through in the recent past and everything we were feeling for him. So intense.

    • Karen says:

I wish ‘the sobbing into the towel ‘ part had been there to see again because it shows what a true & passionate man he is and that he’s not afraid to display his feelings. Rafa must have been so happy & relieved to win this title again and end the disappointing losses he’s endured recently he just had to let it all out! I wonder how many fans cried with him. I would have loved to have been there with lots of his fans to share that special day!

  15. Atch2 says:

Oh Nando, I think that hug replacing the handshake with Rafa is the sweetest thing.
