I looked, in vain, for Rafa/Marc! or even Rafa/Roig as favourite doubles team.

    *sobs again*

    • miri says:

Just vote for Nestor/Zimonjic instead. Zim is all kinds of hot. :D

      • CC says:

Nah, sorry. I took too much joy in seeing him and partner SO pissed off when they lost to Rafa/Marc! in Doha last year. I cannot vote for such a sour puss! :D

        • miri says:

Heh. I can’t blame them for being pissy. They toil away on courts with no one watching them all year long and some superstar comes along and steals their moment in the spotlight. Besides, he looks like a B-Movie villain – how great is that?

          • CC says:

Granted, Nenad is nice looking. But he should lose the tidy beard. Not hot.

And yes, poor, poor doubles players…

            *sobs AGAIN*

            :D

            • miri says:

              :P

And I don’t usually like the tidy beard thing, but for some reason, it works on him.

So, your vote for doubles team will cancel out mine. I’ll live. ;)

          • Missy says:

            Hahah, that is so true.

I remember feeling the same way as I cheered in delight at Rafa’s and Marc!’s victory. I recalling laughing so hard (cruel, I know) at the pissed expressions on their faces.

I was thinking, heck, they are doubles players, this is what they DO. It’s their thing. And along come two Spanish cuties, one who has everything going for him and the other who is just so happy-go-lucky…and they have a family to support…and when the announcers gave the checks, and you could just see that RAfa wanted to trophy and was so excited about the trophy and the win (the money, no doubt was nice, but it was a bonus – a sweet after thought)….

Hehehe, I actaully quipped that they shouldn’t allow successful singles players to compete in doubles. But when I heard how doubles players LOVE it when they do because they bring exposure to the dubs, then I was like “Awesome! I’m all for it. I’m DYING to see a Fedal dubs team, or a Rafole dubs team.”

Rafa and Marc! played the Bryans before, and I recall just how thankful and happy they seemed (not only because they won that match) but also because of how seriously Rafa took it. It was an extremely entertaining affair, and you could just tell by the warmth at the net that the Bryans were proud that a singles champion like Rafa would take a doubles match so seriously and compete with his whole heart as if he were at Wimbly final or something.

But that Rafa right? That guy doesn’t brush his teeth half-heartedly. He does everything to the fullest. :))

      • natch says:

OH! Nenad Zim. Way hot. Beard or not.
        Hey! I rhyme. :D

        CC,
The fiery temper means fiery “ing”, no? ;)

        • Missy says:

I’m amused by the structured sentences where “Nenad” and “hot” are used in the same sentence.

I don’t get it. But to each his/her own right? :D

CC, I agree, that dubs final was terrific! Yet another comeback from Rafa and Marc! My favorite part was when team Nenad were obviously trying to bully Marc! (choosing to target him time and time again to keep Rafa away from the ball – which of course makes perfect sense). Rafa tried to intervene but to no avail. During one of the points, Marc! chased down this drop volley and returned it with a drop volley of his own. It was amazing! I remember Nenad/Nestor looking downright pissed and began to question whether or not the ball bounced twice. Rafa, on the other hand, was so excited for Marc!’s awesome get, that he had to stop himself mid Vamos! to politely put his hand up in that “sorry” tennis gesture. Then he went back to congratulating his buddy.

^_^ Oh, and don’t even get me started on the cat. HEhehe.

Zim, looks a bit like Ivan the Terrible the Russian Tsar, hot indeed but quite scarry even when standing in line for custom; and yet Rafa and Marc beat him and Nestor in Doha last year I thougt Zim was going to go for the jugular, lol!

    • Rafangel says:

Please could someone explain why marc! has an exclamation mark? In fact, on the subject of incomprehensible things, what does RafaKAD stand for? /still puzzled after much reflection

    • Atch2 says:

      Not even Rafa/Pico.

  2. SapphireSwell says:

Miri, that picture is hilarious and super cheeze :P

    • miri says:

Completely cheesy, grainy and with crappy color balance, but I had to use it!

      • nic says:

LOL that picture just made my day. Reminds me of how mental Rafa was during Daveed’s match. Damn this boy’s got really bendy thumbs :p

        • nic says:

Gotta add, he’s got a really great profile here. Mmmm, those cheekbones are so defined.

        • Rafangel says:

He and I would have extremely beautiful children with freaky thumbs – mine go back almost 90 degrees. I think that’s a much-needed contribution to the world population. Mating would be an act of philanthropy.

          “Dear Rafa…”

  3. faeaki7 says:

Thanks for this, I often browse the atp site but only during tournaments that Rafa plays. Its great to be able to vote for our babe, loving the picture, I loved watching the Davis cup especially when Rafa’s around, it sucks that it might be scrapped.

  4. Missy says:

I love that pic of Rafa. He’s so dedicated and puts his heart into everything he does. The way he cheered on Daveeeeed during that match was so amazing! He was an absolute maniac! He was genuinely losing his mind…

Hehee, Vamos Rafa! Fan Fav, no doubt about it! Everywhere I look to read about the Aussie Open final this year, and not a post can go by without Rafa being mentioned. His absence was felt, whether it was hard-core Rafanatics, tennislovers, or Fed fans…

There’s no getting around it. He’s simply contagious and addictive.
Speaking of which, how cute is this icon? I saw it on one of the bloggers posts. SWEETNESS personified:

“There’s no getting around it. He’s simply contagious and addictive.”

Very true. I found out yesterday that my grandma is a huge fan. She got all fangirlish on me during our phone conversation :D

      • Missy says:

Hehehe, just awesome. Yet another addition to our Rafanatic family. \:D/

My best friends kids sister (she’s about 7 years old) has a MAJOR crush on him. She’d actually do the little shy girl thing, you know? The twisting of the leg, fiddling of the fingers, head to the side, fluttering of the eyelashes, shy smile, and hide behind the couch whenever Rafa is on TV. She’d eventually sneak out from behind the coach to take her seat front and center, and jump around screaming “Vamos!” and get in everyone’s way. And don’t get me started on his interviews…I’ve never in my life seen a 7 year old so attentive during a press conference.

He just appeals to everyone. Regardless of age, race, social status or creed. He’s a language that all human beings understand, and he is a person whom all can relate to. What a champ! ^_^ LOVE! <3

        • miri says:

Seriously? There are plenty people who are immune to Rafa’s appeal and plenty people who out and out hate him. Just browse your average tennis forum to see oodles of them. I don’t get the need to make such blanket and over-arching statements like this. It just makes one sound…delusional. Reality is: there will never be a person who every one loves. It’s just not going to happen.

          • Missy says:

Heh – let me clarify. It appeals to everyone that matters. Heh.

Chill, of course it is impossible for LITERALLY every.single.human.being.on God’s earth to love the same thing. I learned that when I was in kindergarten and my “cubby buddy” hated play dough! HOW can you hate play dough?!

            Seriously?

Though it’s interesting to point out, that people love Rafa.
They either love him, or love to him him. “everyone” is an expression.Don’t hang on every word. ME-OW.

            • Missy says:

Shit, I meant to say : “HE” appeals to everyone that matters. Rafa is obviously NOT an “it”.

And also, “They either love him, or love to hate him”.

And I don’t give a rats ass about those trolling haters on tennis blogs. Holding them in consideration is like considering how the dirt in my sewer drain feels when I squeegee.

            • miri says:

Well, maybe if you said what you actually meant instead of exaggerating for the hell of it, I wouldn’t react so negatively to your posts.

              • Missy says:

Maybe you shouldn’t react negatively period.

I said what I meant. If a person says “yeah, everyone’s listening to that song” that doesn’t mean everyone on God’s earth is rocking out to Lady Gaga.

There was no reason to get all up in arms about a light comment on a Rafa blog.

                • miri says:

Perhaps. But if someone said, “Everyone regardless of age, race, social status or creed is rocking out to that song. It’s a language that all human beings understand, and can relate to.” That’s another matter, no?

        • teejustice says:

Well he got my vote. I wish my grandma used the internet so she could vote for him herself. I’d love to see her watch him play.

Of course everyone is not so absorbed. I think he is often very addictive to hs fans (raises hand). I’ve never been this involved with any other player or sport.

  5. k says:

This is not that important maybe but it is weird that Rafa is so close to Agassi.
