The interview with Wilander is one of the most favourtie interviews I have seen when Rafa at the end laughing out loud! He was so adorable and you can see Matts loved him to!

Thank you for the Wilander and Courier interviews! <3 <3 <3 I don't get the claims sometimes that Wilander dislikes Rafa because he doesn't pick him for every tournament – he's just being honest. Also, who can not like Rafa? :)

Am I a total mushpot for dewing up at the ESPN promo? I'm such a sucker for that kind of corny editing, damn them.

I agree. I think Mats loves tennis in general and he’s not doing a bad job commentating on Eurosport. When he did the interview with Rafa after commentating on his 2nd round match, he asked questions that you could feel he really wanted to know the answers to, instead of just asking the obvious dickhead questions that players often get from journos! I guess it helps that he’s cute too. ;)

Jim’s interviews are always good. Well, apart from the one with Federer the other night, when Prince William was there. That was just embarrassing.

Willander spent most of Rafa’s match discussing Roger, and if you can hear him during the Roger v. Montanes match last night, omg you would want to throw up, he absolutely adores Roger and infact he has even said that people prefer to come to see Roger over Rafa and so forth he just can’t help himself, ok each to their own but these kind of overpraisals are so corny and distasteful when they are spoken on air, as a commentator he should never be biased, he did give Rafa some compliments at times but its well known that he idolizes Roger much more, to the point in which it makes me cringe.

Luv the vids. Shame I can’t view the espn ones and the collision with the kid was removed.

That Banana shot is a thing of pure beauty. It tops the best of the best banana shots. The ballkid even got out of the way for that bullet to pass. I think it’s not as challenging for you Rafa. Maybe you should try to get it around the umpire’s chair next time.

That laugh with Mats will too Rafadorable.

That guy with the bull horns in the Couirer vid was COOL!

  4. CC says:

Hah! Watching the higlights clip, can you hear Steve Ulrich say “have you got a banana for him?” to the ballkid, just as the players sit down after Rafa hit the fantastic banana shot? Great! :D

I think tio Toni definitely has some back problems, he’s huffing and puffing as he’s getting out of his seat. Carlos Costa looks hungover. And papa Nadal looks kinda lonely. My conclusion? They need a woman to look after them.

    *books flight to Melbourne*

Actually sent a qu to Rafa tellg him that his players box only had men, & could i volunteer 2 b the only female. But hope uncle toni is ok.

    • Ch F says:

Yes I heard that too! I thought the umpire was funny at some points. And the tone of his voice when he announced the points was not boring at all.

    • tiemyshoe says:

Man, can’t Maymo work a little magic on Toni?

They’re probably all recovering from seeing Rafa actually winning at Playstation. The shock and all.

    • sia says:

Benito looks happy though. And kinda cute.

    • Atch2 says:

I also like that the ballkid goes to grab a banana from Phil’s table after Steve spoke.

Under highlights – day five night session interviews, (right at the end) Rafa gets interviewed about the banana shot – his best match of his life. How gorgeous he is in the interview and the smiles and of course the snorts (we get two!) how wonderful.

CC hope you saw that one. Still like the Matts interview when they laugh together about who of the big Croats he prefers and just about to say when they found out who won and therefore changed his mind quickly who he favoured. The timing was brilliant as it wasn’t staged – just natural

    • Rafafan says:

Sorry not best match! go forbid!! I meant best shot

    • CC says:

Wow, a bit of Rafapresser from all three days! Thanks again Rafafan. Gosh, newly showered Rafa in press conference is like the sweetest thing there is to the eye… So cute.

  6. Missy says:

Hehehe, I loved the moment when Rafa and the ball-kid collided! So cute and funny. The way the kid was beaming afterward was so adorable! YAY! He collided with Rafa! That made his day and will probably go down as one of the greatest moments of his young life. :D

Also, the crowd broke out into a fit of laughter and giggles. Oh Rafa, it’s always an experience with you. <3

Steve Ulrich is one of the BEST umpires ever. I also love his tone of voice. He is known for adding a lot of personality to the score calling.

As for Matts, he's not one of my favorites. I for one couldn't give a chocolate-chip cookie whether or not he chooses Rafa to win. He no doubt had his moments of putting his foot in his mouth and making (to put it nicely) not-so-nice comments about Rafa. *shrug* Whatever. Sometimes being in the same field as Rafa can make people green.

I liked the above interview with Rafa though. The laugh at the end was hysterical. Matts laugh was so girly! Rafa has such a great sense of humor and he has great delivery and perfect timing. He's such a goof-ball. :))

As for his interview with Courier, is it just me or does it look like he was frazzling over the match before coming out to interview him? I remember thinking that the last thing Rafa wanted to talk about was when he was going to wake up the next day after all of that. That's enough to exhaust him! His interviews with him are always a gem. So cute how Rafa has his arm around him in the end.

  7. Missy says:

Oh yeah, did anybody else notice that Kohl was a bit pissy in this match. I just attributed it to all the pressures of playing in a Grand Slam (and having Rafael Nadal across the net.)

Apparently though, he is known for trying to stir up controversy and trouble on court. I never saw that side of him before. I guess I didn’t watch enough of his matches.

    • faeaki7 says:

Yeah well Rafa showed him how it was done when he clapped for the German whilst he was leaving the court, pure class! Kohlshrieber was indeed stroppy about the challenge thing when he himself did the same at times.

  8. Atch2 says:

Anyone know what the yellow ribbon that Rafa had pinned on his jacket in the presser is for? Saw it on Prince William too. Is it for a charity fundraiser?

  9. Missy says:

“A yellow ribbon is a symbol with various meanings, mostly associated with those waiting for the return of a loved one or of military troops who are temporarily unable to come home.”

“Recently, it has been used to symbolize support for the International Suicide Prevention Program and the Black Saturday bushfires in Victoria, Australia. It has also been used recently to raise awareness of Testicular Cancer, Endometriosis, and Madeleine McCann.”

  10. sia says:

Yep, the yellow ribbon is being worn in support of relief and recovery in Haiti.
