According to Rafa’s official site, he should be on his way to Abu Dhabi by now. Once there, he’ll have a bye in the first round and will meet the winner of the Davydenko/Ferrer match. Ferrer is a last minute replacement for an injured Tsonga. Lastly, on the exhibition’s site, it says that Rafa will be signing autographs in the Tennis Village at 2pm on the 31st. So, if you are in the area, go get an autograph and wish Rafa a happy new year!

MMM I wish he was signing autographs whilst he was in London, I got real close to getting one but didn’t want to be one of those annoying fans who demands or yells out for one. I always think he signs autographs if he wants to and kind of offers to, thats the best time to ask him.
Shame for Tsonga to be injured again, he has had his fare share of injuries that poor guy. Still it must be nice for Rafa to have Ferrer a fellow spaniard in tow. Probably have family round so I might not catch a match, anyone one no what time in Europe its showing? I am in London, thanxxx

Just a quick note about the GS poll, I think if Rafa regains his French open title (being the GS he is expected to win, because his the King of Clay), it would give him confidence and he could then go on to maybe winning his much sort after US open title. 2nd would be Wimbledon, to regain the title he couldn’t defend would be awsome and stamp his status as more than the clay courter supremist once and for all, so many have said that he won’t win it again, I would love for him to prove them all wrong, either of these would give him confidence to win that elusive USOpen.

If your in London Rafa will be playing 11am New Years Day and it’s on sky sports 2. Fed plays after The final (hopefully Rafa v Fed) will be 1pm 2 Jan – English time.

In Europe it will be 12noon/2pm and in Abu Dhabi it will be 3pm/5pm.

Shame about Tsonga – he is a tough cookie, like Davy and could have been difficult for Rafa.

Is Carlos Moya going with him? Also noted his Dad and Mom seeing him off. Rafa looked relaxed and happy. Buena Suerta.

Don’t know, but as Charly is going to Chennai, maybe they are flying the first leg of the route together? Answers on a postcard… ;-)

I feel ridiculously excited about the tennis season starting again and to see Rafa play. I AM trying to keep my expectations kinda low, though, because I still think it will take quite a while for Rafa to find his rhythm and get back to his best. I really do hope he does spank somebody’s tight bum in one of the matches in Abu Dhabi or Doha, just to get his confidence up a bit on hard courts!

Wheee, this is going to be a real division of loyalties… I do so hope David can continue his DC success and win over Kolya (and as D mentioned on the Capita WTC site it won’t be a walkover) but… I find it emotionally very difficult when Rafa plays against any of the Armarda guys :-(
