Rafa’s win against Berdych in the first Davis Cup match was the 400th tour-level win of Rafa’s career.

Back on his favoured clay and performing in front of a 16,000-strong partisan crowd at the Palau Sant Jordi, though, Nadal hit back in spectacular fashion, winning 15 of the last 17 games of his match with Berdych to give Spain the perfect start and record his 400th tour-level win. The 23 year old is only the ninth player currently ranked on the ATP World Tour to win 400 singles matches in his career, and the first to accomplish the feat in less than 500 matches played (401-91).

That’s quite an accomplishment!

    Good going Rafa.
He’ll probably achieve 500 by the beginning of 2011.

He sure is working hard towards that. On his official website, the frontpage article today is titled “RAFA BEGINS PRE-SEASON TRAINING”. Vamos Rafa and have a great year in 2010!

Wow, that’s an incredible accomplishment. Should take him about a year and a half to reach 500.

I wasn’t sure if Davis Cup wins counted as tour-level wins for the stats – great to know that they do and he’s made the 400! “…and the first to accomplish the feat in less than 500 matches played (401-91)”. I hadn’t done the maths, but great to know he ended the year by breaking yet another record! That really is an amazing achievement!

It was mentioned last week that this was Rafa’s 400th win, but I had no idea exactly how special it was. To hear that he’s the 1st to achieve this in less than 500 matches, is so cool!

What a 400th game that was as well. To begal Berdych & win convincingly, now that should put a smile on his dial.
And for him to have basically no holiday & straight back into training, shows he is passionate about wanting to be his very best come 2010.
Love the fact he is so dedicated to his craft, but also hope he has some time to enjoy the festive season.

No question Mary!!! Whot a big feat 4 him to accomplish @ his age, si he is already back to work so he can repeat as AO Champion, RG ( his title for 4 years ) Wimbly of which he had no way to defend but will and then maybe, very possible US OPEN!!! 2010 could very well be HIS year, just like he dominated 2008!!!!!
Whot a fantastic run that was, no? At time just seemed to expect it, no? Never doubted Rafa’s dominance then and am w/positive actitude we won’t in 2010!

Now what award is someone going to give Rafa for this (apart from our unstinting adoration and support, that is;-)???

Come on, given these incredible stats, it needs to be better than the sweatshirt Moya got for his 500th – although Charly did look pretty chuffed with it
