WFT: rafandready’s back for a practice session [Updated]

Yesterday I was lucky enough to see Rafa practising again on the public practice court, for about two hours, he came on court just after 2 pm and finished at 4 pm when Davydenko arrived for his session.

It was forehand time yesterday – started off going long a lot but by the end was looking great – shame he can’t come straight off a practice court and into a match, firing on both cylinders! He looked mean and moody at the start of the session but by the end was being quite playful with the tennis balls, doing fancy tricks to pick them up. I wondered if he was bored LOL. Once again he was signing balls for corporate people – and one lucky woman nearly got Rafa in her face – she was sitting by the side of the court (where the “normal” public can’t go) and he ran to get a ball and nearly straight into where she was sitting. She was beside herself – I could see her telling her friend “he was this close” and holding her fingers about an inch apart. What a lucky girl she is!

I did have tickets for Nando v Delpo yesterday but I “wasted” them because I was watching Rafa. When Rafa finished I took my seat and watched a couple of games but then spotted Rafa in the crowd, and thought I’d try and get his autograph. So I left the arena again and kind of hung around outside the door of the block where he was sitting, but I think there must be a secret exit for the famous as he gave me the slip. I then went out for some fresh air – it’s really quite stuffy in the O2, quite cold round the outside where all the restaurants and the practice court are but inside the arena it is really warm. I had a wander down to where the Thames Clippers depart and there was an ATP Official Car but they’d already got players on the boat and off they sailed.

Last night I was at the Murray/Federer match, and sat next to a lovely Rafa fan! She asked me if I was a Federer or Murray fan so I turned round and she saw my “Vamos Rafa” t-shirt and she was delighted. We had a great laugh – I wanted Murray to win and she wanted Fed. Have met some more lovely Rafafans this week!

And we have the prospect of a Rafa Davydenko match tonight too. Let’s keep hoping! I am meeting up with some lovely friends I’ve met through our love for Rafa (the BBC 606 forum Rafateers), and we are off to the O2 tomorrow – I wonder how many of us will be in the arena watching the match and how many will be at the practice court watching Rafa?! Vamos!

I probably won’t get to the pictures until just before today’s match – sorry! I’ll add “Update” to the title once they are up.

Pity he figured out how to get that shirt out of the bag & all the little it bits & shit off it. Naked top was fine for me.
Rafa don’t you get it by now. We just want you shirtless, shortless & ah la naturale. Of course winning might help on most occasions, but the naked tops priceless!!!!
Mind you he has to win many matches so we can have the pleasure of his shirt changes. May they (shirt changes) be long & arduous. :) :)
    Thanks Rafandready, mucho appreciated!!

Looks like Maymo has joined the British Davis Cup team. Maymo, not a good idea, although u would probably play better than the Brit no.2.

Great write up and vid of strip. I’m envious of that woman that was almost run down by Rafa.
