Look, I wasn’t jumping on you for anything. And obviously you’re free to express whatever you feel about Rafa. What right do I have to criticise you on any of that! I didn’t mean my reply to sound harsh or offensive. But does anyone want people to sound like a Stepford Wife LOL. I just said what I felt and did not mean it to be harsh at all. If you felt so I apologise.

No, you did not expressively state that Murray is a better player than Rafa but I got the feeling that you were saying his game was better. Either way, that was a misunderstanding and I apologise.

Anyway my reaction was knee-jerk because of the general doom-and-gloom attitude of a majority of Rafa’s fans over the internet. I’m just tired of reading “He can’t do it” “He can’t do it” over and over again.

Actually, what I meant was “serves-and-volleys” (call me old-fashioned but this is something I’d like to see more of from Rafa) not that Murray has a fantastic serve. Also, where on earth did I suggest he’s a better tennis player than Rafa?!! I’d like to be able to exchange both positive AND critical thoughts about My Absolute Favourite (Men’s) Tennis Player Ever, without getting jumped on for supporting other players or being critical of Rafa’s game!

These pictures and the others from the media day set amuse me. Sod is shoved awkwardly to the side. Here, everyone has the chairs as props to lean on/sit in except him. He sort of just lingers. Essentially, you can just crop him out. Hehehe, and wouldn’t that be nice. (I’m mean and miss ARod.)

I agree with you mostly but the serve is just as bad as Rafa’s. It’s one of his biggest liabilities.

In fact Muzz’s second serve can be killed by even a top-50 player because it’s that weak. And we’ve seen it before.

There is an important fact to be looked at here. Rafa has 6 slams Muzz has none at almost the same age. Each year, for each slam he’s hyped up and hyped up and so far he’s only reached one slam final where he was comprehensively beaten.
Results show who the better player is. And it’s clearly Rafa.

I hate to say this, but he’s partially right. Rafa’s serve has improved but it’s still one of the weakest areas of his game. He volleys well on the rare occasions that he does it, but he doesn’t do it nearly enough. He needs to come forward and return earlier and more aggressively if he wants to get more wins on faster courts. But I disagree that his game relies purely on physical strength and tiring people out (although I suspect that Davy’s words / intention have been twisted a bit here) – he knows how to hit some pretty spectacular shots as well! And I’m sorry, but I also disagree about Murray playing that kind of game – he’s a well-rounded player who (while not nearly as exciting to watch as Rafa) is capable of varying his shots and style of play and generally serves and volleys well. He’s willing to play a few more shots than most, but also tends to keep points shorter than Rafa.

I don’t think any of them look particularly comfortable in their suits, except Nole, who does look very suave (maybe because his suit is correctly fitted and most of the other aren’t), but I LOVE how Rafa (not Roger!) is at the centre of the room and everyone’s attention (well, one not-so-dear-friend excepted anyway) especially in the middle pic! He positively shines! Now take that to the court, babe!

I do not think that a person can win 36 titles including 6 grand slams and 15 masters tournaments all by the age of 23 based on pure “strength” alone as Davykenko suggests. It takes great skill, experience, hard work, and talent to get these kinds of tremendous results. At his best, Rafa absolutely has all these qualities.

I really hope that Davydenko did not make these comments because they are totally unfair and disrepectful to Rafa and his achievements/standing in tennis history.
