I’ve probably watched this about five times now, still I end up just staring at Rafa’s complete adorableness and then start listening to what he says at “…can be faster in London, can be slower in London…”. We will see about London, Rafa, no?
So it sounds like he did practice fairly hard back home, although what was revealed from the news for the past few weeks was largely distractions. Good to hear.
I definitely prefer how it looks here than in the overly conditioned flattened out and comb forward thing he had going on at the Universal Spaniard thing.
But my favorite thing? When he as a body mic instead of a free-standing microphone so you can hear all the little “eeEEeeee” noises he makes before he works himself up to an actual word. (I have no idea how to describe them – “eeeEEeeee” isn’t accurate at all, but I couldn’t think of a better way.) Like how he doesn’t just say, “Yeah” it’s more like “Yeah…aha”
Well, I don’t know if it’s a good thing to notice any sound like I do. After all, I start to twitch daily at my desk because someone 4 cubes away constantly smacks gum in the afternoon. One of these days, I’ll pull out a machine gun and mow the whole place down just because of that gum smacking.
Rafa gets away with a lot of stuff we would not accept from other players (and people in general) … but he makes up for it in so many different ways. No?
So your comment about noises inspired me to go back for a closer listen. There’s a groan at 50 seconds in that makes me positively squirmy. Wish I had that sound on a loop…
Has anyone else noticed the little smile and the slightly naughty look he gives when telling the interviewer “well, I was at home practicing…”. As if he’s saying, “well, I wasn’t really, you know…”.
You naughty boy, you.
(And no, I haven’t just watched this for the 48th time. I promise.)
@shelleyellie Showing Rafa's USO promo. Will never be able to watch that w/out remembering him leaving the restaurant just before it came on 17 hrs ago
Rafa what happened to your hair? LOL. R u suffering from frizz, no access to a comb or did the tournament pick u up on a motorbike?
Faster than the USO Rafa? It’ll be good to have the doubles match to adapt before playing the singles then.
“Rafa what happened to your hair?”
Me + Rafa + Spanish music + making out = Rafa’s hair in this interview. ;)
CC it seems the majority luv the hair so you’re gonna have to do whatever you did before to make Rafa’s hair like this again, and again, and again.
And I don’t think I want to know what you can do to the rest of Rafa if given access if this is what can happen to just his hair.
*I luv Rafa’s hair too but so fluffy
“And I don’t think I want to know what you can do to the rest of Rafa…”
Don’t worry, Atch2. I couldn’t write that here anyway.
“…again, and again, and again.”
*faints*
I love his hair it is all messy yumm!
TOTALLY AGREE :)
Rafa’s hair is better when it’s natural
as when it was longer .. (lost in memories of old look)
rafa, your hair, hahaha. u need to use conditioner
Ah, I give up.
I’ve probably watched this about five times now, still I end up just staring at Rafa’s complete adorableness and then start listening to what he says at “…can be faster in London, can be slower in London…”. We will see about London, Rafa, no?
*winks*
Oh, CC! I’m sure it was coded just for you. I heard it, too! ;)
Yep. Just what I thought. ;)
Must be! Miss U for me for Paris and slower or faster for you in London!;)
So it sounds like he did practice fairly hard back home, although what was revealed from the news for the past few weeks was largely distractions. Good to hear.
I would love to attack his head with a bottle of deep conditioner. Of course, a shower would be required as well… :)
Honestly though, I kind of love the curly, poofy, shorter hair. Just wish it were shinier (thus the conditioner).

ROFL I love those sounds!!!
Hey did you laugh at his standard “it’s great to be here” response?? Pfff I did :D
Lol, it’s his little “thinking noise”, I think.
OMG ! miri ! I was thinking about it then i thought that
I must be getting crazy enjoying and concentration on these sounds
BUT THEN YOU NOTICED THAT and MENTIONED IT
So thank God i’m not alone in this :)

Oh don’t mention it ! i hate gums ! and the noises people
make whike chewing !
I never chew gums since i was a child because of these
sounds ..
I am afraid we are too sensitive then if it is getting us into
trouble lol
i get nervous sometimes but i never thought to use guns
though i don’t blame you it must be so annoying
miri, I hope instead you take a deep breath and think peaceful, powerful Rafa thoughts. Much, much nicer than thoughts of killing co-workers.
Well, I’m a pacifist by nature, so it’s not likely I’ll ever do that, but still.
I honestly think if it was anyone other than Rafa making these little sounds it would drive me batty. Somehow, he gets away with it. ;)

I luv the ‘NooooOOhh I’ at 0.35-0.36.
*DYING* That groan at 0:50 is awesome! :)
Dear Rafa,
Please do not condition/comb/brush your hair ever. Your curls are lovely just as they are.
Thank you bery much, no?
