Rankings: November 2nd
This week’s rankings are out and there’s a lot of jostling back and forth toward the bottom of the top ten. Neither Rafa nor Roger are defending points this week. Any points Roger earns at Basel will be a plus for him.

| 2 | Nadal, Rafael | 8,845 | 0 | 17 |
| 3 | Djokovic, Novak | 7,890 | 0 | 21 |

Think Rafa and Fed are the same points apart as last wk.
Wonder if Fed is sick of babysitting yet.
Nice to see that Rafa (and Roger and Andy as well) only needed 17 tournaments to keep this ranking…
Good that Rafa has break between Asia and Paris Masters, although he has been quite busy.
A bit confused, didn’t Roger win Basel last year? so doesn’t that mean that he has to defend those points? how is it he earns more? sorry if I sound dumb, its just I thought he would only gain points if he didn’t have any to defend and since he is the title holder doesn’t he have to defend those points? Thanx
Basel points from last year already dropped off. You can always check the ATP site to see drop dates. :)
Yep – the Olympics screwed up everything last year, so none of the event weeks are lining up.
Thanks for clearing that up! the olympics did complicate things some what!
wouldn’t it have been a good idea for rafa to play valencia this week, not just for points, but to get in the match play that he seems to like (and thinks he needs) to be better prepared for bercy ???
or do you think that for the rest of this year it’s basically all about the davis cup and otherwise having fun ???
