The chair

The ATP site looks at a slightly different side of tennis. Carlos chaired Rafa’s first ATP match? Cool!

That was cool. Thanks for digging it up. (I don’t go to the ATP site much anymore– I find the galaxies distracting).I know MoLay is a big favorite, but I have a soft spot for Carlos Berdardes. His overrules are always spot on.

I like him too – he’s calm, cool and collected.

Oh, hey! A poll idea. Thank goodness. :)

Yeah I like Carlos Bernades too. Think he’s a very steady, cool, calm and nice character. Love it when he speaks to the boys in Spanish too. He just has a nice personal touch to it all. Yeah, but Mo’s pretty lovely too.

Haha, oops I repeated exactly what you said, Miri. Guess he really exudes those qualities.

Carlos is fantastic! You pour a couple of drinks down him, and he’s got the best stories!

Mohamed is very nice. I like him a lot. He usually gets the overrules right. But he’s terrible at crowd control. (BTW, Carlos is also fantastic at that.)

I was at Rafa’s match against Lapentti in Cincy last year where Rafa secured the #1 ATP spot. Early on, some guy from Ecuador was cheering as if it was a football game, very loud and rude. Mo had a few choice words for this guy in Spanish, the crowd cheered in agreement, and the guy wasn’t heard from again. I <3 Mo!

Wasn’t Rafa asked in one of his Q&A’s who his favourite umpire was, and he said “Oh, I can’t really say, but he’s Swedish with Moroccan heritage…”? Yep, we couldn’t guess, Rafa.

Lars Graf is an old officer in the Swedish army, but he seems like a softie, really.

I like Pascal Maria! I think he’s awfully cute when he wears white trousers.

I’l go for Pascal too. Liked him in AO matches.

Mo is cute but i saw a match that he refereed in Rotterdam ( off course one off Rafa’s ) and he repeated evry linesmans call and i found that verry annoying for some reason.

Was Rafa referring to Mo, bec Mo was born in Morrocco, grew up in Sweden and I think lives in Spain now?

The umpires are such a variety pack which keep it interesting. I like Mo bec he lightens the atmosphere and Carlos bec he seems flexible. And the retro-looking French umpire with the cool Afro and deep voice. The American umpire called Jake something looks so boyish and innocent and nervous that I don’t know if the players find him credible enough.

I LOVE lovely Mo, and had the good fortune to meet him at Queens this year….as he was signing my tennis autograph book I told him “Your my favorite umpire”, and he seemed very happy about that “Oh, thank you!”, but then I probably slightly ruined the gesture when I followed it with “Next time you see Rafa, please give him my love”….he promised he would. I wonder if he told him!?? Funnily enough I gave the same message to Nando when I bumped into him at Wimby too…..LOL

Please help! We need Rafa to feel welcome and happy in Paris! Please, please, please Help! Thank you so much :D

I don’t see how an online poll is going to help Rafa feel welcome and happy in Paris. Also this has nothing to do with this post – so…stop it.
