Or u could call it ‘Classic goofy moments of Rafael Nadal!’ Adorable. But how the heck do u get a banana stuck in ur throat? It’s not like he’s never had one before.

Notice he takes mouse-sized bites of bananas now.

HA! I’ve always wanted to know who Rafa falls on in the first video. Hilarious!

Still gorgeous, even as a clutz.

I remember this “banana” episode so well. Mary Carillo made a funny crack about Mathieu wearing a yellow shirt and maybe it would give Rafa bad dreams about giant bananas or something like that. It was kinda strange to me that they couldn’t figure it out right away. It seemed pretty obvious to me, as I watched the match, what was going on. Even Uncle Toni didn’t understand right away. Mary C. also made a remark about how this wouldn’t help the image of tennis as a non-macho sport. Sometimes they can be such simpletons. It was just a funny incident, however, if you’ve ever had anything caught in your throat, you know that it can be quite uncomfortable and stay stuck there for a long period of time (even a soft banana!). Imagine how much more difficult it would be as you are expending extra energy and oxygen while playing tennis!

Ihave seen the banana incident – he is so cute. There is another posted on 030606 Rafa’s Banana Incident on utube where it shows at the end a very small clip of him being so charasmatic in his interview. The way he clicked his fingers twice – couldn’t remember the word banana in english, and the way he said its not his fault when the crowed booed him. He didn’t no how to say boo in English so he illustrated by whistling to himself. Very funny and classic Rafa entertainment.

Miri do you have the whole clip of his interview somewhere? – he is just so amazing in his pressy cnfererence.

Sounds like something interesting and sweet to watch. I only ever saw the clips of both. There is a slightly longer version of him tripping over the net. He is just lying there laughing. Probably thinking to himself what an idiot (funny one that is):) :)

I have seen that too! It is so cute when he whistles. You can tell he really wants to defend himself. Totally adorable. I will look for it too.

I also love that Uncle Toni thinks it would be a great time for a massage. lol. That crowd was obnoxious, no?

Awh I have never seen the clip of his presser but my god he has me melting all over again too cute and adorable, love it when he clicks his fingers trying to think of the word and the whistling he’s beyond sweet!

    • Suzanne says:

Me too, Debs. I saw the match but not the presser. What a cutie! Will his sweetness never end? I hope that he chews his food better these days so no more incidents with food getting stuck! BTW, did any of you see the presser last year where someone asked him what he was drinking (it was as white-ish liquid in a water bottle) and he answered “A magnesia milkshake”…Too hilarious! Milk of magnesia…what a funny guy.

      • miri says:

I’m pretty sure he said it was a vanilla milkshake

        • Suzanne says:

Actually I watched it over a few times and it really sounded like “magnee-iya milkshake”. Our chocolate loving Rafi have a vanilla milkshake? I don’t think so. Whatever he said, he is such a cutie.

          • Mary says:

I’m pretty sure it was vanilla- the Spanish pronunciation of the “V” sound makes it sound like “bainilla”.

            • miri says:

Yeah, I’m sure it’s vanilla too. He’s doing the “i” as a long “e” as well. So, it’s “vaneeeya” which totally makes sense for a Spanish speaker.

              • Suzanne says:

I’m just going to have to find that presser because now it’s gonna drive me crazy! You’re probably right since it’s two against one, but I have to check it out…

Milk of magnesia is horrible- well Rafa loves to suffer so no surprise. He’s funny here, it had to be @ the french didn’t it! Great clip of him flying over the net, Rafa’s soo damn funny!

  9. sia says:

Who is that on the other side of the net that Rafa manages to completely take down?

    • aRafaelite says:

Looks like Fer to me, but then I see what I want to see ;) so don’t take my word for it!

  10. sia says:

Hee hee aRafaelite, fun … to see the two of them rolling around on the ground … getting cozy.
