    haha I remember this

  2. loverafa4ever says:

I luv this interview… but i don’t understand his imitation of lefty leg… with his hand…

    • johanne says:

This is one of my favorite Rafa interviews!! He’s in such a playful mood, joking around with the reporters more than usual. Plus he looks soooo gorgeous. Oooh that smile!

The 2006 IW pressers are precious too…but I’m sure you have those on file and ready to go, no? ;) You’re making this Rafa drought easier to survive, miri….that’s for sure. :)

      • johanne says:

Wooops! Didn’t mean to reply to that!

      • miri says:

The 2006 IW pressers are precious too…but I’m sure you have those on file and ready to go, no? ;)

Have you been looking at my spreadsheet? (Yes, I have a Flashback spreadsheet. There’s nothing unusual, wrong or freaky about that, right?)

        • dutchgirl says:

I’m glad that you have this spreadsheet. I’ve seen most of the videos you’re posting, but somehow I only know the shorter versions. So you don’t hear me complaining (you wouldn’t hear me complaining if I’d already seen the longer versions either, so you can only make me happy with these posts!).

        • johanne says:

I heart Excel so I’d probably make a spreadsheet too. Freak away! :)

          • CC says:

Spreadsheets are great! I hate it when people are disorganised. Do you use different colours for different Rafa-clip-categories?

    • An says:

I think he describes the curve het could put on the ball… with his unbelievable lefty leg.

And psssttt, don’t tell it any further i think thats not the only thing unbelievabe about him :P He’s totally unbelievable, cute.
If i had bin a journalist in that room, i so would have wanted to give him a big hug, i think i might have asked if i could do that!

      • Ch F says:

I think you’re right. It’s pretty much the banana shot of football. He probably can do it with all his left side ;-)

  3. Delta says:

I soooo agree with you An, I’m sure he would oblige as he has that innocent charm about him, whereas I think he is a bit taken a back with all the adulation he receives from the World Press and his copious amount of fans. That is just another one of his fine attributes; besides the obvious! Last but not least he has a playful sense of humor that only adds to the intrigue of what makes him RAFA!!!
PS. Depending on where your time zone is, on U.S Pacific time we just moved into 0.27a. Earlier I was looking @ calender realizing a month from yesterday is when he should be in Montreal and the long awaited Rafa withdrawls will be over!!! Go RAFA!!!!!

  4. An says:

Yeah Delta, he’s unique! I said it manny times before i’m so glad that he’s in the same time as i’am on planet earth… So i’m able to enjoy such a talented, handsome, charming one..

In Europe we are still in the morning of the 9th of july so, 1 day and 1 month tot go before we can probably see him back on court again…
    I’m counting down the days!

  5. mary says:

Raising kids on my own didn’t give me much time to watch anything. I’m trying to catch up on all the missed video’s of Rafa.(twins are no longer ankle biters) Thanks again and again miri…………..
This is one of the best. He is relaxed, humerous, talkative and I don’t think he played with his hair once. Couldn’t help himself with the mic. though. Whatever he was trying to explain with his lefty leg, well he can kick a ball my way anytime, no matter straight or curved. LOL

  6. Suzanne says:

And he’s ‘cheeved so much! Another cute Rafanism…I love the fact that he says, “I love play on grass. You forgot, but I play final on Wimbledon!” What a cutie pie. I still hope he gets the chance to catch a big fish before he returns to play in Montreal. Evidently he hasn’t gone fishing at all. Also, hopefully his return will not be full of “pression”.

  7. Diane says:

This interview is one of my favorites. That “lefty leg” comment is just hilarious!
That Xisca is one lucky broad.

  8. nic says:

oh this is too cute!! i’m melting. rafa is so adorable and playful here. love the nonstop fiddling with the mic. love the rolling of the sleeves to reveal that toned left arm. and love the unbelievable lefty leg hahaha. that was just a pure moment of cheekiness and abandon. how cute rafa was in this one. i’d die from cuteness if i was in that room. there was so little press there though when the camera pulled away! now i know that the translator’s voice is benito after seeing him in this year’s wimbledon press con.

  9. Atch2 says:

Rafa was so playful with the journos and down to earth as always. I think Rafa enjoyed the varying, not so serious questions.

Never heard him boast about anything, but if Rafa says he has unbelievable lefty leg, I believe him. Real Madrid, take out your cheque book for your next big purchase.

Anyone remember how Spain did against USA in the Davis Cup they were talking about? Did Rafa play?

The worst thing about watching these is that it makes me miss Rafa more.

  10. sia says:

I love the part at the end where is he asked a question in Spanish and he answers in Spanish at a million miles an hour … as though he can finally express himself fully. Hee Hee. Typical Gemini.

  11. June says:

You know I’m really glad he decided to go w/tennis instead of soccer, as our RAFA isn’t a diva & there are way too many of those anyway in futbol these days. He has changed the way one thinks of a tennis player. I actually used to think of them as rich snobs from wealthy families, but he changed all that for sure for the better/more positive side of the game w/his ultimate humility, no!

  12. CC says:

“Not very big, but very nice…”
    Classic Rafa.

Oh, Rafa, please have some compassion with us weak hearted fans and stop stroking your arm and shoulder during pressers… Seeing that smooth looking, bronzed skin makes me go crazy every time. ;)
    I. Want. To. Touch.

    • Atch2 says:

And he does it so unconsciously, innocently.
Can you imagine the effect he would have on us if he wanted to intentionally tease us.

      • miri says:

Can you imagine the effect he would have on us if he wanted to intentionally tease us.

Considering how bad he is at “come hither” looks in photoshoots, I suspect an intentional attempt might reduce me to giggles. It’s the unintentional aspect that makes it so sexy for me.

        • CC says:

Yeah, you’re absolutely right there, miri.
          However…I dunno…I’m sure he could pull something off… ;)

        • Atch2 says:

I agree with you Miri, but his intentional would be goofy-sexy, which would still get me too.

Makes u wonder if he is a romantic kinda guy. He doesn’t look it, more like a guys’s guy. But he’s sincere, loyal, funny and sweet, which are great qualities for a man.

          • CC says:

            Romantic?! Very unsexy.
But I’m sure Rafa can be intentionally flirty, if you know what I mean.

            • miri says:

Oh, he’s very flirty – you’ve seen those Spanish interviews with Rosana, right?

              • CC says:

Uhuh…I know. She looks like she doesn’t mind at all. ;) Who would?!

                • An says:

Oh yes he can be flirty! I guess nearly evry Spaniard can…
Intentionally flirty Rafa, could be enough to make me die and go to Rafahaven

              • Debbie says:

Rosana is one of the luckiest women on earth! I want her job. *jealous*

                • CC says:

Yes, I have a feeling that she occasionally gets to sneak into the locker rooms at tourneys as well… ;)

                  • Atch2 says:

Miri, can we have a poll one day of ‘most envious job to have’:
                    a) Rosana’s
                    b) Rafa’s trainer (Rafa Maymo?)
                    c) Rafa’s hitting partner
                    d) Rafa’s locker room attendant
                    e) Rafa’s slave
                    f) etc

    • johanne says:

NO! Don’t stop stroking your arm and shoulder! That’s one of my favorites moves he does, CC!! So sexy! ;)

I want to touch. AND SMELL!!! (obviously).

      • CC says:

I know, I know… I just don’t know if I can take anymore soon… ;) I mean, look at his skin, on those arms, I’ve never seen anything like it! Mmmm…
Oh, to smell him once, just once. And touch. Please.

        • CC says:

“Can you imagine the effect he would have on us if he wanted to intentionally tease us.”

        • johanne says:

I know, he drives me crazy!! The deliciously bronzed skin, the arms, all that stroking… *fans self*

You should check out his pressers from RG 2006. “Unbelievable” (*Rafaccent*)

He looks really HOT in those. And he strokes a lot, if memory serves me correctly. ;)

        • AllyRat says:

I am only a little bit embarrased to admit that I did smell him once. I was getting an autograph, just me and Rafa (and Xisca standing off to the side, but I choose to Photoshop her out of this particular memory) and while he was signing my flag I leaned in and took a long deep sniff… Ha! He had just come from the hotel gym, he was shirtless and sweaty and less than a foot away- who could resist a smell?? Heavenly… Melting even now as I remember it!!!

          • CC says:

“…shirtless and sweaty and only a foot away…”

Ahhhhhhhhh!!! I’m dying of jealousy over here!
Embarrassed to admit? Why? Only an insane person would NOT sniff him if he was only a foot away. And shirtless. And sweaty.

*sobs at thought of never getting to smell Rafa*

          • johanne says:

WHAT?!?! That’s an amazing Rafa story one should never be embarrassed to tell! I don’t know why I want to smell him so bad, but I do! Obviously, others understand my intense desire. ;)

          • mary says:

“I just fainted” To smell (whats to be embarrased about) Oh i can only imagine what that incredible scent could be. I need a cold shower}}}}}. How did you not faint? You are a brave one and a pic as well!!! Now thats an unforgetable memory. *faints again*!!

            • AllyRat says:

Unfortunately no actual photo, just the picture in my mind:) but it is a vivid one! If you’ve never been to Cincy before you should try it. Several close encounters with Rafa there– hotel gym, pool, elevator, parking lot… Last year I actually saw him pull his work out shorts down (!) to reveal a SPEEDO (!) then watched him swim laps. Ahh! Those 5 seconds of him undressing in front of me were perhaps the greatest 5 seconds of my life.

              • CC says:

“Last year I actually saw him pull his work out shorts down (!) to reveal a SPEEDO (!)…”
                What?! Nooo… OMG!!!
How many times haven’t I seen Rafa do that, in my dreams. He’s the only man alive I would love to always wear Speedos when swimming/playing on the beach etc.

                Lucky, LUCKY YOU!

                Must. Go. To. Cincy. NOW.

                • June says:

Who would have guessed that one, no? Now I’m just thinking here, but that could be the main reason our 15-year old daughter wants us to drive her to the tournament in Cincy (not because it’s closer for us than NY of course)! What hotel was this again?

              • mary says:

“Last year I actually saw him pull his work out shorts down (!) to reveal a SPEEDO (!) then watched him swim laps”. OMG SPEEDOS. That just killed me……………
Living here in Aus, well I’ll just have to fuel my imagination unrestricted by reality!!

              • johanne says:

Cincy is sounding better and better by the day!! ;)

    • faecoleman says:

I am so with you on that one, watching him stroke his arms is soo tempting, I bet there soft as well as cuddly, lucky Xisca.

      • mary says:

Actually, I had a chance to touch a sports star here in Aus on his arms (believe me, big and beautiful like Rafa’s). It was like solid as a very smooth rock. Could you imagine arms like that wrapped around you!!!!!!! I’m going weak at the knees again. *faints yet again*
Yeah you said it, lucky lucky Xisca.

  13. Debbie says:

Awwwww. Rafa seems like he would like to stay and chat all day. I love “chatty” Rafa. He seems so carefree here. I hope his rest has done him good and we get to see happy Rafa very soon. *excited*

  14. June says:

I have to brush up on my high school Spanish ASAP so if I ever get to meet RAFA in person, I can have a conversation w/him in his native tongue (no dirty thoughts, now girls) (LOL)!

    • Suzanne says:

I sincerely hope Rafa’s English never improves too much. His delightful Rafanisms are such an expression of his charm. He never seems to shy away from big words, though the “spressions” get a bit tangled at times, he never misuses them. (Sometimes he does giggle a bit when he learns the “correcto” word or phrase in English…cute.) His intellegence is something we don’t mention in this forum too often (it’s kinda hard to get past the hunkieness, tenicity, cuteness, charm, masculinity, tenderness, etc.) but his intellegence is beyond just tennis smarts. He really seems to have people smarts as well as general intellegence from learning and being interested in life. Oh will August ever arrive? It’s so nice to be able to chat with you all and read and watch the updates and FB’s Miri has provided…thanks ever so much, Miri!

  15. Delta says:

I agree with you Suzanne on your whole post re; Rafa’s intellect & adorable words in English! I am with you on all the wonderful and entertaining posts by MIRI, many thanks to you Miri as your very talented with words describing “our Rafa!” Much needed repreive to talk with all of you while
Rafa has been absent, which has left an enormous void to us “Rafalovers” for all the talent and humility
he brings to himself and the sport!

  16. Delta says:

An, what a profound statement! We are so blessed to be on this planet at this time in history to witness GREATNESS in every sense of the word!!! Great observation! I cannot agree with you more!!!!
How fortunate we all are to enjoy this time in our history with a superflous individual on all levels!
Much is owed to all that played a part in his persona, Mum, Dad, sister, Uncle Toni for introducing him to tennis and being a great role model for the astute youngster & all the rest of the Nadal Family and friends who helped shape this young man we have such respect for, For being RAFA:) true to himself.

    • An says:

      Thanks for agreeing..
And for youre beautifull words, since English is not my native language i cannot describe my feelings that good but i do agree with you too!

I’ve bin a fan of someone before but i never had that special feeling that i have for Rafa!

  17. Atch2 says:

I remember reading a while back, a woman wrote in a question to Jon Wertheim’s mailbag @Sports Illustrated (paraphrasing bec can’t find it)
    Q. Is Rafa really that nice/charming/friendly in person? Or is it female thing we have for him?
    A. Yes, he really is like that.

Steve Tignor is also charmed by Rafa, expressing it quite well from a post he wrote at Indian Wells 09.

Journalists are just as impressed by Rafa as we are!

  18. Delta says:

Atch2, I believe HE is as he has wonderful role models 2 guide him, However, I think it is his makeup and disposition that makes him the Geniune person he is. He is a one-of- a- kind, which has capitavated all of us and his legion of fans across this World! I like all of you am looking forward to HIS return as long as he is healthy, myself being a Nurse, don’t want him to damage himself anymore, & I know he has a great team of specialsits to make that call. In my heart of hearts, I believe HE will be back and has as good of chance to win any ATP player out there!!! Especially Fed! Go RAFA!!!!!

  19. Delta says:

Hey , apologize for the mispelled words on my last reply. On strong pain medication from having back surgery. Thanks again Miri for all the work that goes into this site! I look forward to watching & reading as I am limited, but improving thankfully. ( Re; all the cute actions RAFA does, I love when he plays with his hair. He’s just “super sexy” without even trying!! The best way to be.

  20. Dianne says:

Awww, I wasn’t around this site when this video was posted. This is one of my favorites too and the one that my daughter and I quote all the time (she doesn’t admit to it but this video made her fall in love with Rafa, she likes to pretend to be rebellious but she loves him). Anytime either of us hear the word “unbelievable” we laugh and follow it up with “left leg” to each other. And the other one is “100% inside?!” from a different video. That was so precious!
