Yes, I know.. it’s a pity but better than to play with pain or injury.

  2. tmi says:

I wish him to be happy and healthy. Come back strong rafa.

  3. Mim says:

*sigh of relief* Good choice Rafa. Very smart choice. We’re proud of you. We all know just how much Davis Cup is important to you and to have to bow out must be disappointing for you. And although your fans would of course prefer to see you play, we want you to be strong and healthy even more! You’ve absolutely made the right choice, and everyone will be supporting you as always.

You know that your health is most important, and it’s crucial that you fully heal before hitting the courts again. No doubt the US Open is your priority, and your choice to skip Davis Cup will only help your chances even more.

As usual, take your time getting well Rafa, we all love you very much.
    VAMOS! <3 <3 <3

  6. mary says:

All your fans understand your health is most important. You will have other opportunities to represent Spain. Come back when you are ready, we’ll be waiting and be there for you.

YAY. I’m so glad he’s not chancing it for DC. Even though I miss him so hard. :(

Can you imagine how happy we’ll all be when he will be playing again? I keep telling myself that, in order to deal with his absence right now.

That is better that he will not play he still need to rest although i miss him so much,
have u guys seen the video “from your fans ” on rafa’s official site it is made by vamosbrigade members i actualy apear in it it is a very sweet video u should all see.

    • patzin says:

this video is also on Rafa’s website. It is a nice touch to show that people around the world are missing Rafa.

    • mary says:

I was so emotionally moved. Thanks Vamosbrigade,it shows he is loved from every corner of the world. What was the music? Was it from the phantom of the opera?
Rafa will return with more conviction, determination and most of all heart. Well that’s what I believe…………………….

  10. patzin says:

Some of the articles about Davis Cup also add the comment from Mr. Costa: Rafa is not well and cannot participate, or something to that effect. Saying that he is “not well” has a strange connotation to it, at least for me.

    • CC says:

When I read “he is not well”, it made me think of Rafa tucked up in bed, with a temperature, having scarlet fever, me on his bedside, wiping his sweaty brow with a cool cloth… ;)

No, what I wanted to say is that I agree with you, patzin. It does sound odd. However, I think it’s something to do with it being translated. Hopefully.

  11. AnaR says:

Juan Carlos Ferrero plays today from 14:30 hours of London .. approximately 11:30 hours a.m. in NY and after the match between Roger Federer and Ivo Karlovic on the Center Court. Incidentally, the singer’s favorite Juan Carlos (he has always said it) is Michael Jackson .. hope that the sadness for his death does not concern him. Here in Spain we thought that Juan Carlos is back and now he can win even with the public in opposition (Andy, is british). Lleyton Hewitt and Juan Carlos are training together since the first day (they were big rivals at the time and now friends) and both always want training together. Will this be a premonition that they have reached the quarter-finals?. Come on Juan Carlos! .. Come on Lleyton!.

  12. faecoleman says:

Yes it is a very smart decision by Rafa not to play and knowing how much the Davis cup means to Rafa for his country it must have been a difficult one. Spain are a strong gritty team though they showed that in the finals last year, Rafa knows that they should do well even without him. I keep on reading about Rafa’s personal family troubles too, I wish they would leave him alone, the press are the worst aren’t they for exposure. I hope his okay and recovering nicely, tough times for Rafa and I miss him sooo much!!! Thanks for all the old footage you are posting Miri, cheers me up loads!!! having serious Rafa withdrawal symptoms at present!!!

    • mary says:

I have taken a stand and am not reading any news articles other than whats placed here, on the official web and vamosbrigade. I can’t be bothered with such pathetic journalism (toilet journo), so they can just make a bit a money. So to be honest with you I haven’t got a clue what they are saying and don’t care.
      Rafa stay strong!!!!!!

  13. AnaR says:

Ferrero is playing now against Murray.. both are equals on the first set. But Ferrero is worst in serve. Murray is very solid. OMG! I am worried. I would like that Ferrero wins against Murray

    • mary says:

I’d love for Ferrero to win, but has he ever bet Fed.? OMG I just want someone to beat Fed. He has been given a silver spoon draw in this tourny. All the best are on the other side of the draw. Lleyton is just about to play Andy M. Go Lleyton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. AnaR says:

Come on Lleyton!… he is the only one possibility to win Fed!

    • miri says:

I think Murray has a much better chance of beating Federer. But this really has nothing to do with the Davis Cup. :)

  15. CC says:

    May the best man win!

  16. AnaR says:

Roddick is winning agains Hewitt.. and.. I am sorry I didn’t know that today the match was between Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick.. of course, I prefer that the winner is Andy.. and I think Roddick has a much better chance against Federer and Murray.. I forgot it!..I didn’t remember who is going to be the rival of Hewitt..

  17. AnaR says:

I love Roddick .. I think he is in a very good moment and makes a truly effective tennis ..

  18. Nada H. T says:

I wish that Anyone who can beat Federer will Reach the Final

and DO IT ! PLEASE ! Murray, Hewitt, Haas, Roddik ..

This is You Chance because RAFA will have it next year !

  19. AnaR says:

Congratulations!.. Roddick is on semifinals!… I’m very happy for him!.

    • mary says:

Sorry for Lleyton, but happy for Andy R. Also equally sorry for Juan, but congratulations to Andy M. I hope either one of them beats Fed. Rafa would like to keep is ranking, but you know I think he would be happy for who ever wins the final. Thats the kind of guy he is. Thats why we love, love, love him………………….!!!!!!!

  20. miri says:

I’m still not sure what any of this Wimbledon talk has to do with Rafa not playing the Davis Cup. This post might be a better place to talk Wimbly since it’s at least about Wimbly.

  21. mary says:

Sorry miri, I get a little side track now and again. But in the end it’s all about the fact our Rafa isn’t at Wimby or playing DC because of his tendonitis. Somehow he is such a part of our every day life we include him in everything current.

    • miri says:

That’s okay. And I admit I do go back and forth on whether or not to try and police “on topic”, but sometimes it just bugs me more than other times.

      • dutchgirl says:

I love it, miri, that you’re trying to keep us on track here. I can imagine you posting all these items with the purpose of discussing about them and then we wonder of…
After all, it is your site and you must have ideas in your mind of how you want it to turn out.
I’ve said it again, but will repeat it: thanks for all the work you put into it. Not only on the posts, but also on your reactions to our comments.

  22. Lana says:

I’m really sorry to hear that Rafa will not play Davis Cup. :(

  23. yoy says:

oohhh i wish that nadal get back to the court

  24. AnaR says:

And of course.. Congratulations by the 4th of July… Happy day to all of you!..

  25. June says:

Thanks AnaR. I’m sorry too that RAFA isn’t playing in the DC. The weather here in St. Louis is raining “cats & dogs” literally. We have a traditional VP Fair that’s at the Arch & riverfront that’s usually televised annually w/the fireworks & it looks like it will be a fiasco today. It’s supposed to be for 3 days downtown by the Mississippi River, but who knows what mother nature has in store for us. We have to say goodbye to outside barbeques & swim parties for the kids now. Oh, we also are having the All Star (MLB) baseball game to be held here next week at Busch Stadium downtown & events are scheduled for 3 days. It will bring a lot of people & $$$ to our city, which we need desperately because of the economy. I hope Roddick wins tomorrow & beats Fed so that RAFA can retain his #1 status at least for a while. How’s the weather in Spain today? Vamos Roddick & hopefully RAFA is recovering nicely ;-)

P.S. Sorry, Miri I got off the subject — how’s the weather in Texas where you are at?
