The A to Z of Nadal v Federer

A cute article by Byron Vale posted to the official Wimbledon site.

B is for breakpoints saved. Nadal has saved 114 of the 180 break points Federer has held against him while Federer has saved 105 of the 185 break points.

A slight lead.

C is for Cambio de tercio. Reportedly Nadal’s favourite Spanish restaurant in London.

And C is for CC hanging out at Cambio de tercio.

H is for hard work. Federer was once asked whether his talent was through genius or hard work. “I had to work on my genius,” he replied.

Hee!

M is for minutes played. Federer and Nadal have played 3281 minutes (two days, six hours, 41 minutes) of tennis against each other in 20 matches.

Well, thank goodness they weren’t consecutive minutes.

P is for points won. Nadal has won 2221 points against Federer while Federer has won 2173 against Nadal.

:)

Z is for zero. In the 2008 French Open final, when Nadal won the third set 6-0 it was the first time Federer had failed to win a game in a set since 1999.

Nice!

Heh, yeah, I think that restaurant is on Old Brompton Road in London, close to Harrods famous department store. Very posh… I’d love to hang out there! If he pays… (:

    3281 minutes. Geez…

    For me:
F is for “focus”. In their first meeting, Nadal showed remarkable focus for a 17 year old, beating the newly crowned #1 in their first meeting.

H is for “humility”. Nadal’s humility is well known and an important part of his appeal. (not for “hubris” but it’s tempting…).

T is for “thrilling”. No other word to describe the Wimby final last year.

I is for “intensity”…Nadal plays with so much intensity and typically each Nadal/Federer match is very intense…especially for us watching ;)

F is for “forehand”, whether it’s Nadal’s “buggy-whip” or flattened across the body, dude’s got a fear-hand…and I’m told that Federer’s is not too shabby if you go for the unloading of a devasting shot sort of thing ;)

W is for will, the will of Rafa is like no other!
