Awww, he is speaking so softly here… I am still just completely torn up about this loss. I know it sounds silly, but I’ve had a permanent ache in my heart since he lost. Don’t think it will go away for a couple days. I just still can’t believe it. Sorry to be so sappy.

Ugh…know the feeling. Woke up this morning feeling a little bit sad too.

Agree, Johanne, SO soft spoken and looking SO…defeated. But lovely. I hope he’s home already, getting some much needed hugs and kisses from somebody that matters to him.

He never got to play in front of his family, did he? X was there for a day or two before the tournament and disappeared as usual after the customary dinner with Maymo, and even Carlos and Benito were kind of in and out of the picture according to Rafa’s blog. Only Maymo was there the whole time, I think. (I don’t count Tuts or the other Nike guy as family.)

But no mom or dad or sister or Uncle Miguel. Guess they’ve contacted their travel agent to cancel their flights/hotels. :(

Now, though, Rafa gets to spend time with them without pression. I hope these days are healing for him.

I’m hoping his fam and friends 1) plan a sweeeeet birthday party for him, and 2) do their best to distract him from the rest of the tournament. It’s gotta hurt him to watch any matches from here on in.

I woke up in the middle of the night, still sleepy and suddenly realized what happened yesterday: Rafa lost in 4th round!! In just a split second I was really awake and couldn’t sleep again for a couple of hours. It made me wonder how Rafa’s sleep was last night.

¿And what do you think about the french public with him?.

  3. Ana says:

The explanation for the strange behavior of the French public is this: Most of the years of the RG tournament has been won by Spanish tennis players, men and women .. the list is too long. Many more in number than the French or any other nationality. The French press talks of spaniards tennis player, you know, Robredo, Moyá, Feli, Fer, David and of course Rafael with the name of rats earth, I think this is enough and you know what happens. But there are other sports in which Spain always wins: cycling (the Tour de France): Motorcycling: At this time the top three categories are for Spanish sportsmen. Interestingly we have a great champion who is also personal friend of Nadal who is Fernando Alonso, twice world Formula 1 champion with Renault. That is what they have against the Spaniards and of course, the history. Jealousy and chauvinism and I say .. So for the same reason.. we should all go against the Americans who are the best in swimming, athletics etc. etc..? because we all admire to Michael Pelps here.

Dear dear Rafa, I still cannot believe it, watching the French open now with no Rafa is soo empty, hope he is getting all the love he needs right now with his family xisca and friends. Does Rafa have a sports physcologist? just wondering, maybe Toni has that role.
