Hm… that took me a while.
But wow…5190 points ahead of Federer. That is pretty, pretty amazing.
Nice to see Murray is #3.

Its really nice to see that lead isn’t it, Federer will lose 700 points here as it is replacing Hamburg am I right? Nadal too could drop points depending on results here, the madrid points drop off in October as the points stay on for 52 weeks I believe.. So just as well Rafa has an amassed lead. If anything Murray has very few points to defend, as he lost in hamburg last year to Rafa I think 3rd round? not sure, correct me if I’m wrong though..

Faecoleman, the ATP website does a pretty good job of explaining this, but as far as I understand the situation, the Madrid points will drop off in October as expected (Murry will have to defend those points during the new Shanghai event). However, the points from Hamburg ’08 will drop off on 5/17, so Nadal still needs to defend 1000 points this week. Like Nadal, Federer has to defend the 700 points her earned from the Hamburg final. That being said, if Federer repeats last year’s results and Nadal does the same (knock on wood), Federer will still loose 300 points b/c of the new ranking system. You now get 600 points for reaching a Master’s final (instead of 700) and 1200 for reaching a Major final(instead of 1400). Anywho, I digress. The point is, Rafa’s lead is HUGE and should only get bigger if all goes well!
