    Shirts are problematic.

  2. CC says:

It’s nice to see those armpits… We don’t get to see them often now!

I really miss him in his old outfit, pirates and all muscles bulging, really suited him, seperated him from the rest, and at least at the Australian and Indian Wells he was wearing tight shirts with no collars, I prefer him with this look but the shorts, no the tight pirates were definately sexier on Rafa, he has such a great physique its a pity Nike don’t do it justice….Why did they have to do that? What were they thinking, of the fans definately not… Love those colours though..

Okay, I probably shouldn’t post a reply to this and this isn’t an attack on you or your opinion, faecoleman, but you know the almost irrational anger some people seem to have about the clothing change? I have a similar irrational anger to people complaining about the clothing change. ;)

“Why did they have to do that? What were they thinking, of the fans definately not… ”

Maybe they were thinking of their client? Rafa, the circumspect guy who usually would never say a bad thing about a sponsor, said he was tired of the long pants and was ready for a change – in 2007. How do we know he wasn’t equally tired of the sleeveless?

      • strobi says:

Rafa is asked about his huge arms quite often and he always replies that is not true he is bulkier than other players, only that people saw his muscles because of the sleeveless. Maybe he wanted people to stop looking at his arms and more at his tennis.
I personally prefer the new clothes, i really dislike men with sleeveless shirts, no matter how hot they are.

      • CC says:

I *flove* his new outfit, mainly because I think he’s bulked down (can you say that?!) this year and is much leaner.
I saw a picture somewhere of him training in Rome last year and boy did he look huge!

        • nic says:

I personally think Rafa looks better than ever with the new shirts and shorts. He’s suddenly looking simple, smart, yet bloody sexy and sharp in the nicest colours around. I think Nike have been able to make Rafa look absolutely unique on court still but also classic and contemporary at the same time. And I completely agree with you CC, he is so much leaner these days! I thought I was imagining it, but guess not. Rafa is just looking more gorgeous than ever in ’09. And I think he’s really happy too to not be seen as the young ‘un anymore because of his outfit. Oh yeah and another thing, they used to say how people would be intimidated by his old look with the bulging biceps and pirate look, but you know what, now they’re just completely intimidated more than ever by his game and his achievements. Vamos Rafa!

Good point nic, the focus is more on his game now I suppose and thats what really matters doesn’t it. Well said..

  4. johanne says:

I don’t think he’s grumpy in #5. Looks to be a miny fist pump directed at his camp. What did someone call that look? Concerned aggression? I think that’s what this is.

No fluffy treasure trail to be found?

Also, I want to be part of the action in pic #10.

    • miri says:

People actually read the silly titles I put in there? Huh. I was going to say, “Grumpy or fisty” but that sounded…wrong. ;)

      • johanne says:

        yes! because they’re too cute!

      • kefuoe says:

I agree with johanne. I find that I will notice one title then go back through the photos to read the other ones (I know– what a drag to have to do that!). The titles almost always prompt a smile.

        • miri says:

Well, crap. Now I’ll feel pressure to come up with stuff more interesting than, “Forehand”, “Backhand”, “Slice”

          • kefuoe says:

Don’t force it. Let it flow. ;)

            • CC says:

Hah, yeah I always read the captions, although it takes me about ten minutes to find them beause I have to stare at the pics first.
The Rafa-Nando at the net one is sooo romantic. What a snog that would have been.

  5. johanne says:

    ooops i meant *mini*

wtf am i on? must be the rafalcohol.

  6. somarem says:

Thanks for the wonderful pictures and site Miri. And yes I do pay attention with the captions… so particularly tickled with number 10 :)

  7. niki says:

Pic #10, seriously, how did they NOT kiss?

    I think I need a cold shower.

  8. elmerforest says:

In regards to the new outfit, I would like to point out one wonderful benefit of the new polo shirt…the exquisite view of some Rafa neck and collarbone…sooo sexy and until now hidden beneath his other shirts (sleeveless or otherwise). I love it, and thanks Miri for this great site, I always look to you for my daily Rafa-fix!

  9. faecoleman says:

Okay Okay everyone, you have a good point elmerforest about the neck and collar bone and especially to you Miri, I didn’t mean to affend anyone, Rafa would look good in anything and I truly believe he chose these clothes to adopt a more mature look thus drawing attention to his tennis other than his appearance, I certainly am not angry about it, I adore Rafa and would continue to watch him no matter what he wore I was only saying what I prefered its just an opinion but I do sincerely apologise if I have upset anyone…. I love this site, its the best I have found for info on Rafa…. I like your honesty and definately don’t take this as a personal attack.x
