Toni’s a tough nut
…at least as tough and hard to please as us fans.
Nadal coach unhappy despite tournament win
“He played a good third set, but it’s obvious he must play better than this week,” said Nadal senior.
“He was missing a little confidence in his game and you could see that his serve was incredibly weak. But it’s the first tournament on clay this season for him and I hope that with some more matches, it’ll get better.
“We know that there’s a lot of work to do before Roland-Garros. But he still won. It’s a very important tournament for us and to win for a fifth time is incredible.”

gotta love uncle toni :D
thanks for all the posts miri, what would i spend my late nights doing if i didn’t have this site to come to :)
Why do I have a feeling Toni said exactly this to Rafa when he went into the stands to celebrate briefly with his team? Rafa was all into getting a high-five or something, but you could tell Toni was not into it, haha. “What the hell was that serving, boy?!”
Oh Uncle Toni, never change.
I did notice that as well :). No high-five, aaw :(. But yes, he wasn’t playing as well as he could. I hope he continues to improve.
Our broadcast wrapped up before the ceremony even started : (
Is there anything on youtube showing Rafa celebrating with his team? Would love to see it!

At 1:47 or so.
Thanks Anna! Ooh that was pretty cold there in the stands. Ouch!
I read somewhere that what Toni said to Rafa was something along the lines of: put on the jacket
I don’t speak catalan, so i couldn’t really tell, but for the hand gesture that Rafa made, it makes sense. Is like me reacting to my mom telling me the same thing.
