The 2009 Monte-Carlo main singles draw is out! Seeded players in Rafa’s half include Stepanek, Monfils, Cilic, Nalbandian, Del Potro, Davydenko (is he really playing this time?) and Murray. Also Rafa faces a possible third round match against either Hewitt or Safin (although, since Hewitt is still playing in Houston, I don’t see how he’s going to be worth anything in the first round of Monte Carlo). The seeds in the other half are Verdasco, Ferrer, Almagro, Djokovic, Simon, Robredo, Wawrinka and Federer.

I looked at the draw and was going to do some kind of draw analysis. And every time I saw a name that might cause Rafa some trouble I thought, “yeah but this is on clay.”

So, here’s my in depth, carefully considered draw analysis: If Rafa is in any kind of form at all, he will win.

    I do love clay season.

I think the draw analysis really just consists of knowing that all the players on Rafa’s half of the draw are probably like, “DAMMIT. RAFA’S HALF.” Hee.

I got really tickled thinking about whatever poor slob was thinking “ooh, I got a wildcard player” only to find out that it was Federer. :) Of course then I realized that Fed’s still the #2 seed and my scenario wouldn’t happen. Pity, it would have been pretty funny. :D

I was salivating over the same thing when I heard Fed took a WC into the event and then someone pointed out he would probably still be seeded. I still say if you wait until last minute and take a WC, you should give up seeding rights. Oh well.

I still wonder why the heck Hewitt took a WC into the event. I guess he didn’t expect to get so far in the Houston event. It will be interesting if he wins today.

BTW, the doubles draw is out and no Rafa and Marc!
