After scaring us by dropping the first set, Rafa got a win over his first round singles opponent Simone Bolelli. The score was 4-6 6-2 7-5. The match took 2 hours and 25 minutes. I couldn’t watch the match, so I don’t have a sense of how he played, but the break point conversion stat sure looks awful.

Some stats for Rafa:
Aces: 9
Double faults: 2
1st Serve %: 62%
Win % on 1st serve: 82% (41/50)
Win % on 2nd serve: 58% (18/31)
Break Point Conversions: 20% (3/15)
Total Points Won: 53% (99/187)

Sort of a Monfils, Doha performance level but he won so he can only improve from that, I just hope he is rested and preped for an inspired Bulgarian tomorrow no dobut. :)

Anyway Bolelli was kind of inspired too in the first so it wasn’t all due to some substandard Rafa, he was just struggling to find the lines in the first, sprayed/ shakend quite a few.

Thanks, Josh. I hate not being able to watch a match and just trying to figure out how things are going from the live scores.

From everything I read, the court is playing super-duper fast, so perhaps Rafa is just having trouble getting the timing and that’s why he’s spraying some shots.
